Possibly my favorite Death album!
Don't get me wrong, I thought the technicallity was amazing as well as many other things on this album, but something just didn't sit right with me upon first listen. To tell you the truth, upon first listen to Death's Individual Thought Patterns, I did not enjoy it very much. I never figured it out because upon my second listen this might have even surpassed The Sound Of Perserverence as my favorite Death Album. As I said before the technicallity is amazing with every instrument being audible, yes even the bass is amazing. The song structure here could not be better with the rhyhtem changing changing at the snap of a finger. The way the guitars could be playing one riffs and then a completely different one in about half-a-second is freakin' amazing. It really shows the technical proficiency each member of the band includes on thistechnical masterpiece. Chuck Schuldiner and Andy LaRocque (King Diamond) are two of the most gifted guitarists in all of music and show it here with the amazing riffs and solos they are able to churn out, sometimes at speeds that I will never be able to play at. Steve Digiorgio is a damn fine bassist and even includes a short bass solo in a few of the songs. Now onto the kit. Gene Hoglan is a beast behind the kit (imo). He has fast as hell double bass and can create some nasty beats at the perfect times. The only negative about this album is a small. Chuck's voice is for some reason a little bit more irritating to me here than on any other Death album. That's not that big a deal at all though. My favorite tracks here are Overactive Imagination, Jealousy, Trapped In A Corner, Individual Thought Patterns, and The Philosopher. Awesome album that I would reccomend to any one who is either just discovering this band or to any experienced fan.

pure classic
It is a masterpiece of progressive death metal. Death's Individual Thought Patterns is a monumental album. For me this album is never boring. While its sound quality can sound a little dated the music is timeless. Songs like Jealousy, Destiny, and The Philosopher are some of the greatest death metal songs ever recorded. The melding of technical prowess, melody, and intensity are remarkable. A must buy for any self-respecting fan of progressive music.

An Amazing Masterpiece
It could be compared to Carcass-Heartwork in it's sheer simplicity and cutting edge solos. This album is just a masterpiece, a non-stop, energetic, simple yet complex work of art. One of the things I most like about this album is how clear the bass guitar is. This album is a must have if you are into any sort of metal, be it heavy, death or black. Some of the most interesting guitar playing I have ever heard. Actually every instrument is played to its maximum capability. There is not one part of this album I would say is not perfect. Just amazing, like an epic staged drama. The one thing I really like about this album is the energy and imagination doesn't seem to run out one bit from start to finish.

AMAZING!!!.
