Death's first step
Solid production and awesome songs. this was Deaths 2nd cd and was leaps and bounds better than their debut. The great Chuck S. started using timing/offbeat aspects to the music instead of straight speed giving the disc a dark feel and the solos are excellent here.

This would be the beginning of Death's more eccentric music, though nothing compared to 'Sound of Perseverence' this Cd was the start of something special. Chucks vision was much clearer than on 'Scream Bloody Gore'. Guitar wise its pretty straight forward, not nearly as intricate as on later stuff, but the heaviness is there. And the riffs are memorable. The drum sound on this cd is great for its time. Hits hard.

Best tracks : Pull the Plug, Left To Die, Open Casket. . But all are really good. Biggest disapointment is the length and fact that there are only 8 racks.

This is a staple, and one of THE essential metal cd's of all time. . Along with Met's 'Ride', Slayers 'Reign' and Kreator's 'Extreme aggressions'. A must for all serious headbangers.

Why don't you - PULL THE PLUG!!!
Its raw and brutal and the defintion of what a death metal CD should be. Its obvious that calling any Death CD great is an understatement but I really love Leprosy. I love all the Death CDs but this one finds my CD player more than any other one not named Symbolic.

Pull the Plug has got to be one of the tightest death metal songs written and there are highlights galore on this baby. If you like Death and don't have this one you are retarded. Period.

Absolutely Brilliant
Of course, Death is still presenting us with a tasty plate of raw, crushing brilliance that was trademarked by their first album, but the songs are beginning to sound more structured. For this merely being Death's second album, it is amazing the extent of maturity they have gone through from Scream Bloody Gore. Chuck's vocals are much, much better (at least to me) than from Scream Bloody Gore and the overall sound quality seems to be at an equilibrium between polished and raw. It is still, by all standards, fairly typical old-school death metal, but it is above par in comparison to many of the bands of that day and age. Brutal, fast, and top to bottom quality DM.

Song Favorites: "Born Dead," "Left to Die," "Pull the Plug," and "Open Casket. " (Open Casket is my all time fav).
