Get It
I knew the usual songs: Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home Country Roads and I liked them well enough, but I never heard any of his other music. I was a casual John Denver fan before I heard Windsong. While searching for reviews on other music, I saw great reviews for this album and I bought Windsong instead of the CD I originally came for. Windsong has become one of my very favorite recordings of all the music I own. Before I heard this album I never appreciated just what a talented songwriter and poet John Denver was. The title track alone is worth the price of the entire CD to me. .

Big fan
What can I say, I'm a John Denver fan and I really liked the CD.

Many years ago
It was the first LP I bought but I like it very much even today. I bought this LP many years ago,in 1976. Excuse me for my English,I studied it twenty years ago and I don't remember it very well. Greetings from Sassari,Sardinia,Italy.

EST and etc
This is the most accessible of his albums; however, it also has some of his best work. When I was a kid, I wore this record out--and Denver inspired me to learn to play guitar, so I'm forever in his debt. The title track--which he wrote with Joe Henry--might be his best song. This coupled with "The Wings That Fly Us Home" from his follow-up ("Spirit")are lyrically and musically inspired. Plus it has his hits. I think of all his love songs, "I'm Sorry" is probably the most honest one he ever wrote--really gives an insight into his personality, as well as his willingness to be vulnerable in his own art.

A classic album from John
While it does not quite match its illustrious predecessor, it is a wonderful album - one of the best of his career. Following the huge success of Back home again, which included Annie's song and remains the pinnacle of John's career, there was plenty of interest in this follow-up album.

The first single from the album featured I'm sorry, a superb ballad that made number one in the American pop and country charts, and Calypso, a tribute to naturalist Jacques Cousteau and my favorite song here. I am surprised that they were two sides of the same single - Calypso deserved to be given a separate release but nevertheless became a huge American hit in its own right. Neither song charted in Britain although Calypso received plenty of airplay.

Fly away (featuring backing vocals by Olivia Newton-John) became an American top twenty pop hit. Other highlights include Windsong, Looking for space and Song of Wyoming.

If you enjoy John's music enough to be interested in collecting at least some of his original albums, this one should definitely be a high priority.
