A lot of techno stuff here
It's really interesting to check out the evolution of remixes as it pertains to one band. This is probably not for your casual fan but for the fan who really wants to go on an electronic adventure this is a very nice set. For the earlier songs you get mostly extended version of songs but as time moves forward you see the remixes getting more and more advanced. Certain songs become completely new entities. I don't claim to love every remix but I do love the concept.
Check it out if you like remixes and Depeche Mode.
Great mixes.. but some technical difficulties
. I enjoyed the mixes, but I too had problems (mainly skipping) with a couple of songs on disc 2.
Toally Violated!
This album is more than a treat----it's WOW. When you truly love a singer, or a band, it is a real treat to hear them remix their original work. When first listening to the lead song on the disk "Never Let Me Down Again," I was disappointed at first because the first half of the remix version is exactly the same as the original. However, the song does fade out differently from the original, but then the WOW comes. All I can say is I got this big smile on my face and I felt my eyes welling with tears. Sounds a bit sappy eh? Can't help it. . . it's true. This remix is the finest to date that I have heard from my favorite band---DM. I felt totally Violated after listening!
One thing however, I purchased this disk a few months ago, and it is a 2-disk set. One disk is music (not as many as this collection) and the other disk had interviews with the band and other goodies. I am sad to see this disk has a few more songs that I like, but I would not give up the disk of interviews, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
.
Great stuff but Faulty CD
Whilst CD 2 and 3 was great, I could not listen to CD1 as it would not play past song 2. I am long time fan of DM hence the purchase of this collection. Not sure if it some sort of copy protection or CD is just faulty.
Hope you have a better experience than this.
If you're a Depeche Mode fan you should have this already.
All these remixes are excellent. If you love club or electronic music then you should have it as well. There are old ones from singles they released in the past years and there are new remixes on here as well. One of my favorite remixes on this set is the Goldfrapp Remix of Halo. Awesome remix! You can also hear Allison Goldfrapp's vocals in the mix as well. Another great remix on this collection is Clean (Colder Version). It's absolutely amazing what they have done to this song. Of course the Timo Maas Remix of Enjoy The Silence is excellent. The only complaint I have about this collection is they left off the 16B remix of Enjoy The Silence as it isn't on the CD Single either and the one track I was soooo looking forward to finally owning has been left off too. That track is Freelove remixed by Deep Dish. Why hasn't that been released yet??? Because of that I give the collection only a 4. Anyway, this is still a great collection and worth owning. Make sure you get the limited edtion 3 CD set so that you get that extra CD of music.
