A must have for any punk rock fan It however will not disappoint. This album showcases a more mature sound for the Descendents, after Milo Aukerman returns from college. It is a great album from start to finish, and certain tracks do remind you of their earlier days. My favorite tracks on the album are I'm the One, Let Me Let You, We, and Thank You. Coffee Mug is a great song as well for those used to the Descendent's earlier sound. Do yourself a favor and get this album. .
Flawless
The Descendents practically invented pop-punk, and were hands down the best of the genre. This is without a doubt one of the best albums of the 90's. Nowadays, the average kid is fooled into thinking that bands like good charlotte, new found glory, and simple plan are pop punk bands. Well, those are pop bands. The Desdendents are true pop punk, and you can see it in their music.
Milo is a great vocalist, and the band are very good at their instruments, at least for a punk band. The lyrics are immature, but they at least show that the Descendents aren't ready to stop making fun music!
There are so many great songs on this CD, so I can't possibly pick a favorite. I'm not even gonna give you a list of my favorite tracks. I'm just gonna tell you that you need to get this album if you're a punk fan. 'Nuff said.
Wow, amazing
This is probably their best release. Wow, The Descendents! What else is there to really say? This band is amazing, I love all their work. Every song on here is classic. I never find myself skipping on. Descendents are just one of those punk/pop-punk bands whos melodic fast paced songs just stick into your head. I love how they can play fast in your face punk rock, then transition into a more melodic pop-punk styling. Milo Aukerman is one of my favorite lyricists because he's simple, catchy, and gets his point accross. He's very good at catching my attention. Plus this guy is no dummy, he went to college and majored in biochemistry. wow, fantastic eh?. He really goes through things a lot of guys can relate to, like girls (haha), growing old, love for coffee, and that's just to name a few. Their guitarist Stephen Egerton has got this distinct sound, thats almost amazing, I dont know what it is, but i love his fast chord progressions, and his sound is just very unique in a way, its raw yet polished. . ??? i cant explain it. Sure he isnt a Clapton or Hendrix, but thats no reason to say I dont like him. Bill Stevenson is a solid drummer, dishing out great punk/pop-punk beats. Karl, their bassist always gets to me with his intro on "Caught". All four of these men are in their own bracket. I feel they are one of the best punk bands out there. Black and The Descendents are my favorite punk bands ever. This album shines. So pick it up, along with Milo Goes, Somery, and ALL, DESCENDENTS = GOODNESS. Highlights of this album are "We", Sick O Me, Caught, This Place, When I Get Old, Hateful Notebook, Coffee Mug, She Loves Me, and my favorite song Rotting Out, overall this album wont dissapoint anybody who is a fan of punk or pop-punk for that matter. .
Not Popular Punk, but Pop Punk!!!
Thats not a bad thing either, there are many bands out there that succesfully pull this off. This band defenatly falls under the genre of punk with pop elements. Ill make this breif, all the songs are good. Buy this, you'll be happy you did, this is what pop punk (or punk in general) should sound like. Enough Said.
Pop-Punk Goodness!
Got up this morning to make some coffee. . everything sucks today. . .
God, I love that song. I love this album. Most of the songs are really quite short, and aren't even two minutes long, but that just makes it easier to sing with. This short, 15-song collection of catchy pop-punk tunes is sure to please anyone. From the hardcore punk rockers, to Green Day and Blink 182 fans, and to just any music fans in general. Like me. I like all kinds of music, and I love this CD. 'Everything Sucks', 'I'm The One' and 'When I Get Old' are very relatable songs, and 'Caught' is a cool, slightly political tune. 'Dog House' is another one I really like, that everyone seems to really hate. Lyrically, yeah, it's kinda stupid, but it's still awesome. My favorite song on here, though, is probably 'Sick-O-Me'. I can listen to it over and over again, and NEVER get tired of it.
This is reccomended to ANYONE. Punks, pop-punk fans, music fans in general. This can be loved by ANYBODY. I even know someone who is into a ton of gangster rap sh** that likes these guys. Ha. If you've never heard this band, get this album or 'I Don't Want To Grow Up'. You don't know what you're missin'!.
