The essential Neil Diamond
It is a very good recording, I guess it was remastered. This CD has the very first hits and best known songs from him. To complement this you should get the second part that has songs like "Forever in Blue Jeans", "September Morn", et.
I am glad I was able to find this copy in Amazon!.


It makes me happy
Yes, it's missing Kentucky Woman and Cherry, Cherry, although the latter probably isn't that big of an oversight. No greatest hits collection will ever make everyone happy. It was put together before Longfellow Serenade and Beautiful Noise, but the songs on here allow me to lose myself in Diamond's rich voice--before the real schlocky stuff like You Don't Bring me Flowers (I can do without that one for the rest of my life). And this reminds me of why I fell in love with Brooklyn Roads. Not a perfect collection by any means, but I still revel in it. I have two other of his Greatest HIts collections, but this is the one I keep going back to. .


Great recordings by a great singer
High orchastra, I played a violin duet for our season finale, Song Sung Blue: I was hooked. When I was in Jr. Even though Neil came out of the sixties rock era, his music far transends anyhting else of that time. His music is 100% Neil. IMHO, originality seems to be missing in todays music sceen. This is a recording that I have worn out many times. Now that I have it on IPOD, it is absoulutly thrilling. My fav cut is Dr. Love's Travlin Salvation Show. It rocks and has a great message and tune. If your not real familiar with Neil's music, this is a great place to start. Two thumbs up!.


Not studio version songs
" The sound quality is excellent, though. Beware - some songs are live performances and not studio recordings, like the original 1974 "His 12 Greatest Hits.

I'm Loving Amazon Music Downloads!!!
These daily deals are awesome!!! And I love the way it seamlessly integrates with iTunes. I've been buying "stuff" from Amazon for years now, but just discovered this music download service yesterday. Seems much faster than downloads from iTunes Store, also.

BTW, this Album/CD is pretty good, too. I agree with a few other reviews that the live version of Sweet Caroline is weak.

5 stars is definitely for my newly discovered of another great facet of Amazon. . . gonna buy more AMZN next week, now!.
