Love this group
I listened to over and over again when I first received it. Excellent ablum (CD). I really love the song "China Grove". It has a fantastic guitar solo in it. For me it's a great song to listen to while driving my Mustang GT!.


Solid, comprehensive "best of"
They're not wrong about that, but when there are only so many hours in the day, and so many dollars in the wallet, the Best Of is an excellent way to experience the highlight's of an act's career. Purists may tell you to avoid the "Best Of" type of disc because of the real chance you'll miss a gem. And this is one of the better examples, with work from both "eras" of the Doobie Brothers, almost everyone's radio favorite is here. Easily more than half of the songs will be ones you've heard if you grew up in the 70s or listen to the music regularly. Well worth the purchase.


LISTNIN FOR THE HAPPY SOUNDS AND I GOT TO LET THEM FLY


Indeed, it is a most enjoyable listen. The Doobie Brothers' Greatest Hits is arguably the best greatest hits compilation ever assembled and released by a 1970s rock band. It has the early hits, "Listen to the Music", "Jesus Is Just Alright", and the chart-topping "Black Water", all of which were equipped with top-notch guitar work and the harmonizing vocals which, for so long, characterized the Doobies. Tracks 1-9 are what I call the radio airplay essences of the Phase I, or Album Rock Oriented, period of this great band, which put out the classic LPs "Toulouse Street" and "The Captain and Me".

For a good portion of the remaining set from Track 10 on, we have Phase II, or the Pop, Rock and Soul period, which was comprised of the commercially successful records of the Michael McDonald era. In the set are "Takin' It to the Streets", "Minute by Minute", and the signature hit "What a Fool Believes".

Amalgamating together the various genres and styles, regardless of how heterogeneous they were, the Doobie Brothers never failed to create a sound or to transcend one. All in all, for those who want a perfect Doobie Brothers sampler without delving into the boxed sets or anything that is outside that frequently played on the classic rock radio stations, this is it.

Doobie Brothers Greatest Hits
I heard "China Grove" on a recent TV show and it took me immediately back to 1975 when I was 15 years old. I am 47 years old, was considered a "disco queen" in the 70's and missed out on the GREAT music that was being done outside the "disco" genre. I purchased the "Doobie Brothers Greatest Hits" THAT NIGHT, and am BLOWN away at how fantastic it is!!
Don't wait another minute to order this CD, it is the BEST!! I ordered it on a Thurday night, regular shipping, and it was in my mailbox on Tuesday!.
