Not Too Shabby!
My First Introduction To Them Was On Television As A Kid Hearing Of Jim Morrisson Demise In The Same Errie Manners As Jimi Hendrix, Lynard Skynard, & Other Popular Acts. I Have To Admit I Wasn't A Doors Fan When I First Heard Of Them. Later, I Learned That One Of My Favorite Songs On The Lost Boys Soundtrack (1987) "People Are Strange" Was Originally A Doors Song. Regardless It Would Be 20 Years Later That I Would Finally Open Up To The Doors.
When I Finally Decided To Buy A Door Cd, I Went Through a Number Of Packages Before I Settle On This One. While "Five To One" Was The One I Wanted Along With The More Popular Stand Outs The Group Is Known For (People Are Strange, Breaking On Through To The Other Side, Riders Of The Storm, Baby Light My Fire, Etc) I Choose This One Because Of Its Label Imprint: Rhino To Be Exact. Rhino Has Complied Some Very Good Greatest Hits That I Have Enjoyed Over The Years: House Of Pain/Everlast, Digital Underground, Zapp/Roger, Chicago, & Newcleus To Name A Few. Its Not Just The Songs, Or The Order They Are Presented In, But Also The Liner Notes That Have Provided Some Good Insight To Those Who Are Not Truly Aware Of The Greatness Of What These Groups have Ammassed. I Have Yet To Be Disappointed And "The Doors: Legacy" Is No Exception. I've Grown To Appricate The Doors Much Much More.
The Best Compliment I Was Payed Regarding This Cd Was Recently, I Played It At A Get Together, And My Friend Who Was The First One To Open My Eyes To The Genius Of The Group, Asked Me "Where I Purchased This Cd?"; To My Surprise, We Both Got A Chuckle When I Shared With Him The Story Of How We Arrived To That Moment. Needless To Say, Its Part Of My Vast Music Collection & It Gets Its Fair Share Of Spins Since Its Arrival. There Are Many Other Doors Cd's Out There And While The Die-Hard Fans Won't Budge At This 2-Cd Set To That Of A Boxed Set. But, For Those Like Myself Who Are New To This World, This One May Be The One That Is The Perfect Tour Guide Into The World That The Doors Created. This 2-Cd Is Discontinued So Its Becoming Scarce, So Snatch Up A Copy When You Can! Thanks For Your Time.

"The Absolute Best" Indeed
If you ask me, every last one of them comes up short. I have seen many single-disc "Best of the Doors" CDs out there. Now, with two discs, there is room for over an hour's worth of additional music, and believe me, that space is definitely needed.

The standards "Break On Through," "Light My Fire," "Love Me Two Times" and so forth are all here. But then we have songs like "Moonlight Drive," which I personally have not seen on other "Greatest Hits" packages. The sound quality is very good, and the amount of songs you get make this well worth the money.

Even if you have other Doors collections, this is the ultimate one to have.

Doors fan since 67
I was priveliged to see them in person in August 69. I've been a Doors fan since 67 and I have most of their recordings. This collection was put together nicely, a great mix of early Doors from their first album and Soft Parade and Morrison Hotel. Light My Fire, The End and When the Music's Over are all on the first CD. In the "The End" Morrison goes into his musical rant during the chorus of the song which was omitted in their first album. I have more of their "best of" collections but this one is the best mix. I keep it in my car for listening after work.

Great music
The sound quality is excellent and the variety of tracks are good too. Probably the best CD of "the best of the doors" series. If you're not a big fan of the doors but would like to listen to their best tracks, then this must be on your list. Highly recommended!.

missing celebration of the lizard

only problem as mentioned in another review here,
there is no 17 minute, celebration of the lizard on side 2, as
advertised????????????????
how come?
maybe there are two versions of this cd?
if you want this song you should contact the seller and see if its on the cd. This new remastered Legacy cd is absolutely brilliant, for the
production value and the perfect sound quality, especially when played on a high end stereo system. that you are buying.
