The Doors at their best
First of all the music is first rate, and the Jim Morrison performance is second to none, If you never seen the band in concert as I have, don't even try to review them. I don't understand why anyone who hasn't seen The Doors live would even try to review this 2 cd set. I am over 50 years old, and have seen them more than once in LA. This is The Doors at there very best. This is what rock n roll in 1970 is all about. If you want studio recordings buy those , otherwise get a clue, dude. 10 STARS.

JIMBO PHONES IN THESE PERFORMANCES

THE DOORS ARE PROBABLY MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL-TIME,
BUT I WISH I HAD NEVER PURCHASED THESE CDS. WHILE THE DOORS PLAYED WELL DURING THESE PERFORMANCES
I'M AFRAID THE LEAD SINGER RUINED AN OTHERWISE ENJOYABLE
AFFAIR.
I AM ASHAMED THAT THE DOORS CHOSE TO CAPITALIZE ON
SUCH SUB-PAR PERFORMANCES BY THEIR LEAD VOCALIST. EVEN
RAY MANZAREK BEGAN SINGING AT CERTAIN POINTS TO TRY AND
BOLSTER MORRISON'S LACKLUSTER VOCALS.
NOT THAT IT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE, BUT THE THIRD DISC IS
LESS THAN 30 MINUTES LONG, WITH ONLY 2 SONGS (WITH A DISMAL
AUGMENTED LIGHT MY FIRE) PROPER SHOWING UP. I WOULD HAVE
GIVEN THIS ONE STAR IF NOT FOR THE STELLAR MUSIC. UNFORTUNATELY
JIM RUINED THAT WITH HIS SLOTH-LIKE VOCAL PERFORMANCES.

This is the REAL stuff wirh a band like The Doors
This is not "remastered" as the traditional music industry has gotten us used to. This show is just unbelieveable! When you're listening to it you are listening the "real thing" with The Doors. This is not "edited" as the traditional music industry has made albums to be sold. NO WAY!! This show is here on these CDs as they happened back then. . . . when The Doors didn't get the right tunes to carry a song along, when they had NO IDEA what song to perform in a live show and when Jim Morrisson (of course!) was so lost on stage into the effects of alcohol and drugs as well. This whole thing is the beauty if this set. . . checkin a band being who they always were. I do applaud whoever was responsible of this project for keeping it as it was.

Boston Arena ~ April 10, 1970
I initially started listening to this band in 1999 and had my first exposure to their live recordings in 2003. I am always ALWAYS a big fan of all live recordings from The Doors. A little odd at first but eventually I grew addicted to it.

This particular 3-CD set features two seperate concerts in Boston on the same night. Jim is drunk for both concerts and this adds to the bands spontaneity and charisma when performing live, and this is why I absolutely love their live performances; each concert has its own personality and style, depending on Jimbo and particular his state.

If you are big Doors fan like me, then there is no reason to hesitate. Get this CD and hear, among other things, what Jim does to Light My Fire on the 2nd night, unbelievable!.
