This is Steve Earle AND The Dukes This record is filled with unforgettable rockin' country that is as fun to listen to now as it was almost 20 years ago. This is not only Steve Earle - it is Steve Earle & The Dukes. Definitely a must have in my collection. Anything happens to this disc and I'm visiting the record store and replacing it the next day.
Listen and see for yourself
They present a coherent vision, something the "best ofs" and "essential collections" can never do. A simply fantastic disc! Sure, you may have heard most of these tracks on one or more compilation discs, but listen to them together in the order Steve intended you to hear them and see for yourself the difference in the impact. Each song benefits by its juxtaposition with the others. The total is nothing short of sensational. Yes, I have the 2-disc set, Ain't Ever Satisfied. Since acquiring Fearless Heart, however, I just never listen to it. I guess you could say I ain't ever satisfied with it anymore.
If you like Steve, don't buy this
it might be a good introduction for newcomers, but there are no liner notes. If you are a steve earle fan, don't buy this, you already have all these songs if you have the other cds.
