Customer Reviews Love Grows It used to be one of my favorites in sixth grade. I bought this CD for the song LOVE GROWS WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES. I remember when my mom took me on the bus across town to get new glasses and she took me to a grill next the the University of Toledo. She had given me a dime to play this song on the jukebox there. I guess the birds and the bees were more naive and innocent then. Holding a girl's hand in junior high seemed to be a big deal. Now they have oral sex at 13! Except for LOVE GROWS alot of that music is Muzak. I played this disc a few times on my player and then put it away. But it is a tribute to [. . . ] that they carry such obscure music and movies. This may be superfluous, but this kind of Bubble Gum pop music did remind me of how I saw girls in grade school-pretentioulsy sophistacted and pretty. Like they never smell bad. But when I married my former wife at 18, she did demystify women for me-just like how Joe Dimaggio was reported to have had to tell Marilyn Monroe to flush the toilet after she had a bowel movement. This is kind of revealing about the mystery of woman in the 60-s'you know, they're "sugar and spice and everything nice!" Now I feel that women combine feminism with sexual manipulation! .
Edison Lighthouse (Tony Burrows)
One Hit Wonders, And Thank God For That It's sugary sweet pop but it still rocks; a blend I find spine-tingling. "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" is one of my all-time favorite pop singles, an absolute masterpiece of that early-70s genre that allowed the Archies to have hit singles, the Jackson Five to have a Saturday morning cartoon show, and opened the way for the Bay City Rollers and the Partridge Family. So. . . why didn't Edison Lighthouse have any other hits? Judging by this "Best of" collection, it's because they were a terrible, terrible band. Songs like "She Works In A Woman's Way," What's Happening," and "Find Mr. Zebedee" give pretension a new lease on life. A couple of things here, most notably "Take A Little Time," sure sound like they were recorded for some Saturday morning cartoon. But, in the end, they're all totally forgettable.
