Customer Reviews
A 'must' for French rock
They have a lot of elec. This is a great CD with different musical elements in different songs in a way that despite their similarities they are unique in their own ways. guitar, which is not so common in French rock.
It starts with a very rhythmic song: Mon Dragqueen, which has fanciful simplicity in its lyrics: "Viens avec moi en provine imaginaire". Hype is similar in form to Ravel's Boléro: a big crescendo that spans over the entire song. Quelqu'un is a critique of modern superficial means to look for love. The climax of the CD is Je Voudrais Pas Crever with deep philosophical meaning:
"Je voudrais pas mourir
Sans qu'on ait inventé. . .
Des soucieux socialistes
Des urbains urbanistes
Et des pensifs penseurs. . . "
This is a CD you will want to listen again and again.

French rock at its best
You can hear the Pixies in Eiffel's sound, as well as the Buzzcocks. Great songs, good lyrics, excellent production. The songs are urgent, and offer no compromises. I agree with the previous reviewer, their adaptation of Boris Vian's poem "je voudrais pas crever" is worth the price of the album. The whole package is catchy and coherent, nothing to trash. The're also an excellent live band. If you're interrested in French Rock, try to get the first and only album by Montecarl.

Je voudrais pas crever avant d'avoir use sa bouche
You can easily feel the influence of the Pixies (Eiffel was named after Alec Eiffel. For French music, this album sounds quite like British rock. . . not because of the Eiffel Tower). The melodies are mature, and the lyrics, sometimes a little dumb, stretch between naive teen-angst (Quand est-ce ? Inverse-moi. . . ) and irony / criticism of today's French society (Hype, O Toi. . . ). Note that the Je Voudrais Pas Crever amazing lyrics were first created by Boris Vian. This song alone (when you understand it) is worth buying the album.
