Speechless I've owned this CD for a while now and it's still my favorite! Every time I listen to it is as good as the first time was! The only problem with it is that I love tracks 3 (Vivid) and 6 (Twisted Tenderness) so much that I don't get to listen to the other tracks because every time I put the CD in, I just end up listening to those two on loop :) Twisted Tenderness is amazing beyond words and has left me speechless. . if i gave it my usual analysis it couldn't possibly do the song justice.
Twisted isn't the word I know there is not one track on this CD that will disappoint any listener. What an awesome CD, this is a example of diversity that goes beyond the imagination. This is one of the best CD's I have bought in the last year. God and Amazon know I have bought alot.
Bravo! Worth the wait. But Electronic redeemed themselves totally with this one. Like others here, I have been a fan since the first CD, and still a fan even after the disappointing follow-up several years later. Energetic, fresh, original and very strong tracks from a group I had feared had disappeared. Why wasn't this released in the US? I was pleasantly surpised to find this treasure and I love possessing such a rare treat, but something this good should be appreciated by a larger audience.
The best "Electronic" release to date... Obviously, when Electronic formed in the early nineties, I was quite excited. I've been a fan of both New Order and the Smiths since 1987. However, their albums have been quite inconsistent. Each album had it's really good songs and really bad songs. However, with "Twisted Tenderness", Electronic have a quality release that is full of variety and complexity. Yes, it is guitar driven with few synth. , but the new directional focus is refreshing. Give this album some time. Upon my first listening, I wasn't too impressed. It has taken around 2 months of listening to understand and embrace these songs. "Twisted Tenderness", "Make It Happen" are two of the best songs Electronic have written. It seems that the powers that be picked the wrong Electronic album not to release in the states.
Far And Away The Best Album Of 1999 One minute into the lead track, "Make It Happen", and I knew this would be something special. After the so-so effort of "Raise The Pressure" (which had a couple of brilliant tracks though), Bernard and Johnny came back with what I believe to be the best album of the year. The best tracks for me would be (in no certain order): "Make It Happen", "Haze", "Vivid", "Twisted Tenderness", "Like No Other", and "Prodigal Son". The quality of songwriting never flags for a moment, the production is first-rate, and I'd be astounded if the next New Order release even matches this effort (highly unlikely, despite my love for New Order). It's a real shame "Twisted Tenderness" never saw US release, and apparently, European listeners ignored it in droves. But that's public taste (or lack thereof) for you. No matter. This one rose above the pack for me, and might well be one of my top five choices of the decade. I hope Bernard and Johnny don't give up on this project after such a wonderful 3rd album.
