Customer Reviews let's be honest... . . this is easily erasure's weakest album in an otherwise stellar career. the songs, by and large are listenable (excepting the downright silly 'la gloria), but the seem to lack a lot of the charm vince and andy usually, and easily, inject in their songs. tracks like 'star,' 'how many times,' (with it's decidedly milli vanilli drum beat) and '2,000 miles' just don't resonate the same way virtually every track on 'the innocents' did, and lack the focus, memorable melodies, and sense of fun so prevalent in erasure's best stuff. it's not all a waste, however. there are some a couple of standouts: 'drama,' 'blue savannah,' and 'brother and sister' are worthy additions to the erasure canon. 'drama' was a great lead single, with andy's drawn out 'you're shame is neveeereeeeveeer ending', the 'guilty!' shouts in the background, vince's driving bass lines, and the yazoo-esque synthline midway through. 'blue savannah' is one of many an erasure fan's top songs; while i enjoy the song, it's not a personal favorite, but it's easy to see why it's so beloved. 'brother and sister,' lets andy veer a little bit away from his signature vocal stylings to a bit darker tone (especially in the overdubs and harmonies)--which works quite well. if there's one important aspect to 'wild!,' it's that it did in fact mark a subtle change in the erasure sound, which would provide the blueprint for a string of great albums ('chorus,' 'i say, i say, i say,' most notably) in upcoming years. like someone mentioned in an earlier review, the only songs you really need from 'wild!' are available on 'pop!' unless your an erasure completist, there's really no need to add 'wild!' to your collection.
