Sweet dreams of the past Although their first album "In the garden" did not particularly produce a hit single, in 1982 they skyrocketed to fame with "Sweet dreams (are made of this)" and, since then, they have carved their place in pop history. The Eurythmics were one of the flagship pop groups of the eighties.
This collection has some excellent songs, such as "Here comes the rain again", "Sisters are doing it for themselves", "Thorn in my side" and "The King and Queen of America" (what a song to dedicate our newest President!). There are also songs I've never heard before like "I need a man" and "Who's that girl" (which don't impress me much), and some that I've overheard and feel like pressing the forward button on my stereo every time they come around, i. e. "There must be an angel".
What surely made the Eurythmics such a hit was no doubt their landmark sound, a mixture of dance and pop, with some great horn solos like they could only play them. Yet as much as I enjoy their music and am glad to have this CD in my collection, I cannot imagine them as part of the twenty first century. Annie Lennox's spiky bright hair, her masculine appearance reminding us of the Sex Pistols, combined with the subdued, almost indeterminate look of Dave Stewart in high contrast to her. . . nah - they deserve their place in pop history past. .

Good songs
"Here Comes the Rain Again" is great as well. David A Stewart and Annie Lennox make up the Eurythmics, this has the song "Sweet Dreams are Made of These" which I remember being in the Adam Sandler movie "Big Daddy" after his son wakes up early after a weird sleep. Best CD to have to get the basics of the Eurythmics. .
What a duo
These songs were hits and always being played on the radio or in my room, at my friends house. These 2 together as a group in the 80's rocked my world. My favorites : Here comes the rain again, Would I lie to you, Angel, Whos that girl and There must be an angel. Another song that I loved so much was Walking on broken glass, which was not on this cd. The song that I never really cared for was Sweet Dreams. . . . something about it was spooky. Annie Lenox has the voice. .
