Peace"full" greatness on this one.
Annie Lenox just blew my away on the first track called 17 Again. Pweeee !. The voice, yes the voice are back. This is very intelligent popmusic, with creative notes put`s in the right "narrative" direction. In other words very well composed Track 2 I saved the world today, is an even better listen. The "airy" and "breezy" sound just grip you and never let you go . Track 3 Power to the Meek, is more rock and roll. and sounds OK, but nothing more, sorry to say. The ballad Track 4 Beautiful, it`s a nice gem, when it comes to how to perform a good ballad. There are anyway to many ballad`s on this Cd to give it a 5 star. I prefer Eurythmics doin the more up beat tempo songs, either it`s rock or pop songs. The rest tracks are a fin mix between those. Track 10 Forever is a nice "beatles" inspired song, but got it`s own style beacuse of the Lennox Vocal. All in all. A fine introduction if you are "new" to the modern sound of Eurythmics, and also for the old fan. It will certainly give you one or another form for peace.

Eurythmics: Peace (1999)
They released two compilation albums over the years, but there was still no word of an official reunion and any new material. 1989 was the year Eurythmics released their last studio recorded album, which is entitled, WE TOO ARE ONE. But in 1999, just a decade after their album, WE TOO ARE ONE. Eurythmics released their tenth album entitled, PEACE. I was hoping for a great album, but I didn't get that. This is album is not quite what I had hoped for, but I will say that the album is very enjoyable.

17 AGAIN
The first single from the album. Everybody wishes they were seventeen-years-old again. That is because all the adults in the world do not want to deal with the issues that adults are meant to deal with. Adults would rather be young again in order to have more fun. I know that I'll be saying the same thing as the rest of the adults in the world. I know I am going to hate being an adult, but I have to accept the fact that this life, which I think is what this song is about: Accepting the fact that you are born. You have a fun childhood and teenhood. Then, you grow into an adult and deal with the adult issues. Then, you pass on.

I SAVED THE WORLD TODAY
The second single from the album. Not bad.

POWER TO THE MEEK
The third single from the album. Incredible tune.

BEAUTIFUL CHILD
Another incredible tune.

ANYTHING BUT STRONG
There are a lot of people in the world, who are, indeed, anything, but strong. Strong, meaning feeling good about themselves and striving to have a great life. A good song that seems to be pointing out a great message.

PEACE IS JUST A WORD
The fourth & final single from the album. The reason why in this world, peace is just a word, is because the world is filled with hatred, pain, killing, violence, evil, etc. Do you think we'll ever live in a world, where peace is not just a word, but a true feeling?

I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING
If you are a person with a horrible life, where you literally have nothing going right for you, and you've tried to find the way to change that, but haven't, then you haven't tried everything. That's obvious. I know I am in a life where I am quite unhappy. Now, I have not yet tried everything because I am still not happy, but I'm still trying to find what I am looking for that will make me happy in my life. A great song that I can sort of relate to.

I WANT IT ALL
I do want it all. I want the greatest life possible, but I do want to work for the greatest life possible, that I know that the life is mine because I worked for it.

MY TRUE LOVE
I cannot relate to this song because I have not yet met my true love. I haven't even met my first girlfriend. But I am not worrying because my first girlfriend will be along somewhere in the future. My true love will definitely be along somewhere in the future.

FOREVER
Not a bad song.

LIFTED
Not bad.

Most of these songs on this album deal with real life issues in the world and I can relate to some of them. There are others that do not seem to fit this album, which is why I was not quite impressed with the album. But Eurythmics get all the credit because they put an effort in releasing a new album after ten years of not releasing any new material. This is the last album released by Eurythmics, which means that there hasn't been any new material from the band in the last five years, going on six years. I am hoping that if they make it a planned decision, they'll release another album that will be just as good as their previous albums.

I Saved The World Today ... one of the best songs ever
The CD is worth the price for this song alone. I cannot stop listening to the song I Saved The World Today. The whole CD is great though . . . classic Eurythmics that sounds as great today as their earlier work. Annie Lennox gets all the attention . . . and she deserves every bit, but Dave Stewart certainly deserves as much. They make a great team and this CD should have been given much more attention in the USA. I hope they don't take so long to do another one.

Very deep reunion album...
The albums name holds its own, as for many of the songs are peacefull and light, but not some cheesy pop of 1999, no, the Eurythmics deliver this one wonderfully, some of the songs, such as "17 Again" would make you think that the world was perfect, just the way it was presented, plus the reprise of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" is really quite unique. Eurythmics come back strong from a long stretch of seperation, with the emotional "Peace". Don't forget, the rockers "Power to the Meek" and "I Want it All" are a nice little spice. The only song i don't like is Lifted, it seems to to drag on with monotone lyrics- the same "keep on lifting". However recommended by far.

Solo or reunion? Get it anyway.
After all, Annie's solo career didn't necessarily need to be "rescued. The first time I heard that Eurythmics were planning a reunion album, I was more than a little suspect. " Originally I didn't even buy the "Peace" CD when it was released, and there was a time when I was at the door of the shops the day a new Eurythmics' disc hit the shelves.

But then came two rather unconventional events. One was an episode of "The Sopranos. " At the end of one show, after Tony Soprano decides that he didn't need to resort to violence to solve a problem, the fabulous and haunting "I Saved The World Today" played below the credits. I instantly recognized Annie's voice but not the song. A few days later, the A&E network played the Eurythmics' reunion concert show featuring a few of the songs from the new CD, "Peace," and the classics from their past. I was astounded that all the new songs didn't sound like throw-aways and bought the new CD that week.

I'm glad I did, because unlike most reunion albums that come across as desperate attempts to snare a few extra nostalgia bucks, "Peace" sounds like Dave and Annie never had the fights that split them after "We Too Are One. " The tongue in cheek "17 Again" even teases the listener with references to "Sweet Dreams. " Yet the remainder of the songs, especially the title track, follow in the footsteps of Annie's finest solo material. Dave's rocker instinct comes to the fore in a couple tracks ("I Want It All" and "Power To The Meek"), which could have been from "Savage" or "Be Yourself Tonight. "

There are days I actually like "Peace" better than Annie's "Bare," because here she has an exuberance that "Bare" needed so much. (Not that I would ever say you shouldn't own both!) But "Peace" certainly builds on the Eurythmics' legacy of durable albums, and a worthy one off between two artists with undeniable chemistry.
