Better than the reviews say The only reason I can remember for buying it was because Everlast was a listed member of Rhyme Syndicate, which was Ice-T's "posse". Unlike most of the reviewers, I had this on cassette back when it came out.
What is missed in most reviews and comments on this cd is that as of right now it is 17 years old. Most of the kids buying this aren't even 17! Everlast was really no different than 90% of rap that came out in the late 80s/early 90s. He has the love song on here just like 90% of rappers had back then, anyone remember LL Cool J's "I Need Love"? He has the fast, near techno beats on here much like Kid N' Play had. His voice sounds something like Fresh Prince did back then.
They were all young kids that could rhyme and most could dance to it, before criticizing, if not for these "weak" rap cds from that time period, there would be less coverage of rap today. Very few young rappers could have dreamed of having Ice-T on their cd like Everlast has on this cd. Donald D was totally different in his solo career than he sounds on "The Rhythm" which if you can find the video for was about racial unity. It may sound silly and corny, but most music from 17 years ago does sound corny these days.
Don't buy this expecting anything like the Whitey Ford era cds, buy it for a little history into one of rap's most underrated rappers. The part about him being white has little to do with any of this. I heard he joked that he was happy this album didn't do well or he would have been Vanilla Ice. If you are interested in another long-forgotten classic that actually still sounds pretty good today by a white rap or group, check out 3rd Bass "Cactus Album". .
You're kidding me
Please don't buy this cd if you know what's good for you. This is the most stupid album I've ever heard!!! I thought I bought the album of the singer from house of pain, but what I got was some really crappy music with no substance whatsoever.
Great Album!
Syndicate Soldier - Not my favorite song, but I do like the beat. 1. (4/5)
2. Speak No Evil - I like this song alot, but there is many better songs on the album. (4. 5/5)
3. Syndication (Remix) - Good, but my least favorite song on the album. (3. 5/5)
4. What Is This? - My second least favorite song on the album. (3/5)
5. The Rhythm - One of this album's hits, Great Song! (5/5)
6. I Got The Knack - Another hit from this album, but I don't seem to like it too much. (3. 5/5)
7. On The Edge - Awesome song! I love the beats & the lyrics, one of my favorite songs from the album. (5/5)
8. @?*! Everyone - My favorite song on this album! Everlast speaks his mind in this one. (5/5)
9. Goodbye - My second favorite song on the album. I love the beats, the lyrics, and what he's rapping about. (5/5)
10. Pass It On - Another one of my favorite songs on the album, because it has great beats. It's sounds a little bit like the song Pass It On. (5/5)
11. Never Missin' A Beat - Another hit from this album. Beats are good, but the lyrics could be better, so that makes this song O. K. (4/5).
first album luck
He didn't get much luck from it though, but the album did have some good songs for a first Cd such as "I got the knack" and the angry rhym "F--k every one. Erik "everlast" Schrody came out with a debut album in aapril 20 1990. " Nearly 9 years later,in late 1998 he came out with the grammy award winning album titled "Whitey Ford Sings The Blues" with soft blues-rock songs on it such as "what it's like" and "ends" also he had hard-core rap songs such as "tired" and "money (dolla bill w/ sadat-x)"and also his blues rap songs like "death comes callin. " two years later in 2000 he came out with another CD intitled "eat at whiteys. " With a remake of "childrens Story" and the hit spng "black jesus. " He is now working on yet another album
Mike Bennett.
