Heartaches and Harmonies
My only concern was that it did not have the booklet in it that contained pictures and history. I received this item as expected. I was extremely disappointed, but did not return it, because I wanted the set. This is the first item that has not come as offered. .

Get the Everly Brothers to team up on one here.
It starts with a recording from the Everly Family radio show in 1951 and ends with a song from 1990. This is a four CD overview of the Everly Brothers career. The brothers are arguably the most important duo in the history of rock and roll, and were if fact among the initial inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They were extremely successful between 1957 and 1962. After that, they only occasionally had a hit song, although they were still putting out some good records. Anyway, this is a good collection of many of their best songs, from their hit years and their non-hit years, which should appeal to their fans.

More or Less
I would have appreciated more Cadence and early Warner Bros cuts on this 4 disc set. . the later songs tho fine in their recasting into the sixties sound, then later into progressive country reveal the ongoing talent of the Everly's but dominate too much of the selections here. . . How could you leave off "Change of Heart" from A Date with the Everlys????.

Most underated box set out there
Buying this years ago before all the warner cd releases my only complaint about this set would have been some of the song selections, for instance "nice guys" one of there worst attempts, I would have chosen some better cuts then some of the 1963 era ones on disc 2. I have seen the Everly's 8-9 times in concert and have most of there cd's so this set was a welcome addition.
Overall though, Awesome.

The Roots Of Rock N Roll
This is the ticket. Although the Everly Brothers collection spanned a larger timeline than most people suspect, I've always wished that one day there could be a collection that supercedes the obvious 'hits' compilations that get regurgitated over and over again.

"Heartaches & Harmonies" is fully comprehensive; it chronologically lists the songs from 1951 to 1990, and thankfully includes much of the duo's latter output, most of which is on par with anything they did in the classic 50's period.

Any re-recording/remastering that's been done has been polished to a tee (thank you Rhino records! Kings of the box set!), and they've done a great job of condensing the Everly's considerable discography.

No self-respecting fan of rock and roll should be without this box set; it's been lovingly crafted using the brothers as springboards to their own material, offering tidbits of information as to how the songs were inspired (and even a little bit of trivia).
