the exies - inertia (3 1/2 stars)
I decided to pick up this record because I wanted to see how their sound had progressed. I actually got into the exies via "head for the door", which IMO is a better record. well, it's not really that big a change to tell the truth. most of the songs carry the familar vocals and melodies that made HFTD so good. however, the tone of this album is much more pop than that of "door", so that's the only reason I'm marking it 3 1/2 instead of 4 or 5. the songs are just too light-hearted, and the exies tend to work better with a post-grunge dark angle. highlight tracks would have to be "inertia" and "my goddess", but pretty much all are listenable.

on a side note, the album's production and mixing are nothing to write home about. some songs seem to come off louder than others, and the overall production is lacking in places. they could have given the album a cleaner, more polished sound, if you ask me.

overall, if you're new to the exies, get "head for the door" first, and if you like what you hear, get "inertia" later on.

Too soft
Get their new one instead, which is heavier and pure rock. My goddess is the only song worth listening to on the entire album, the rest sounds like soft, slow garbage from SR-71's File 13. Half of these songs border on pop-punk, and punk SUCKS!!!.

An awesome CD!
These guys have unique sound by mixing that of other bands such as Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Goo Goo Dolls and combining it with a touch of synthesisers and New Metal.
This CD is pretty cool. . .

In my opinion they're best songs however are the slower ones which they do a good job at. . . "Creeper Kamikazee", "Inertia" and "Evil Genius" are a pleasure to hear just to chillout. Their harder songs are also quite good "My Goddess, Without"

However they need to work on those songs in the middle. . . They need a little bit more of style to be pushed out of that pop feeling that we get these days. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy these songs. . .

GREAT CD OVERALL. . . A GOOD BUY

.

good but slow
(head for the door is a great cd as well) the first track, my goddess, was an great song and probably the best. this was an awesome cd! i recently got head for the door and i got this with it. the rest of the cd was definitely a little slower than i expected it to be though, but it was still great. it is definitely a buy!.

Amazing
This Album is amazing. . The Exies are one of the best bands I have heard in a long, long time. Listening to them now actually.
