Amazing guitar and harmonies, but....
Nuno Bentencourt is truly one of the most amazing musicians to ever pick up an instrument. I played the heck of this album when it originally came out. I loved that that these guys were able to create their songs with amazing guitar parts and really lush harmonies. Every song on this album is musically great. You get a mix of everything from Chillipepper'esque rap/rock (decadent dance), to country rock (hole hearted), and ballads like More than Words, which was a double edged sword for the band.

The one thing that drives me nuts about Extreme has ALWAYS been their lyrics. Some of them were great. Take the 'III Sides album'. Great stuff there, lots of good social commentary. But on 'Pornograffitti', there was all this stupid nursery rhyme, mother goose imagery that made me cringe when it first came out and still does. Unfortunately, those lyrics kind of cheapened this album to me and make it hard to play the album in front of any thinking person.

I still give it high marks and I still get enjoyment out of it, but the lyrics. . . . oy!.

Extreme-- Pornografitti
This band is much more than a one hit wonder. Toe tapping, finger snapping, catchy music.

Extreme II: Pornograffitti
From rock to blues. These guys are amazing! Very versatile in their choices of songs. From my 17yr. old to my 70yr. old father everyone found something on this cd that they really enjoyed. I bought it to replace my cassette of the same title from "backwhen"! It's worth it and then some!!!They are being heard again on the radio and their harmonies and instrumental abilities are awesome!!! .

greatly underrated
I mean the guy is all over the place and most metal heads who dislike "more than words" can't deny the real metal soul behind this album. Nuno tears this whole album down like the berlin wall.

"Pornograffitti" really funks up classic hair metal
In the 80's, everyone shrugged them off as carbon copies of Van Halen. Extreme really got a bum rap. In the 90's, they tried to make relevant concept albums. . . . And maybe had it not been for Nevermind, people would've actually listened to them. . . . But, alas, much like Def Leppard and the Crue and others who need not be mentioned, Extreme found their albums in bargain bins and basement boxes. . . . Because, let's face it; they weren't from Seattle.

If anyone ever took time to listen to their records in the early 90's, particularly Extreme II: Pornograffitti and III Sides to Every Story, they're actually not that bad. . . . And listening to them in 2007, they're surprisingly not dated.

While conceptually the "fairy tale" of Extreme II: Pornograffitti isn't as tight as it could have been, the album really shows Extreme leaping from arena hair metal into any genre you could imagine. Yes, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt's solos are here, but they take a back seat in the horn-laden "Get the Funk Out" or the crooner throwback, "When I First Kissed You. " Of course, the real highlights of this disc are the two hits, "Hole Hearted" and "More Than Words," the latter showcasing one of the best acoustic guitar tones to this day.

So if you're looking for a throwback record that you can crank up in the Camaro on the way to your high school reunion, this probably isn't the record for you. However, if you are looking for one of the more musically interesting and boundary-pushing albums of the hair-metal era, I definitely recommend this.
