Endless Roads of Wood & Wires
To learn just what the modern Fairport Convention, sounds like in concert, this is a perfect place to solve that mystery. In 2006, Ric Sanders compiled this 2 CD collection of his band Fairport Convention, from performances from the tours of 2004 and 2005.

Classic Fairport tunes make an appearance here on these two discs, but the bulk of this material is from (the then) recent album: "Over The Next Hill. "
Led by Simon Nicol and Dave "Peggy" Pegg and featuring: Ric Sanders: violin, Chris Leslie: vocals, bouzouki, mandolin, violin and Native American flute & Gerry Conway: drums and percussion devices. These are veteran musicians that understand their craft, and the stages of the world, are their second home.

Taken from the sound board, these recordings are as good as being in the third row center. . . . You are indeed, at the show. Chris Leslie, has added a second fiddle to the sound of Fairport, and duels with Ric, now occur on a nightly basis. Simon, has grown into his role as frontsman, with style & flair, Peggy can make his bass guitar sound like another voice, he is the most underrated anchor in folk and rock music. Gerry, is a forty year veteran that still amazes, and Ric, the Jimi Hendrix of the fiddle. . . . He is a joy to watch!

With the great tunes: "My Love is in America", "Over The Falls", "I'm Already There" & "Over The Next Hill" you will clearly hear that the dream of 1969, is still a reality in the 21st century. "Genesis Hall" and "Walk Awhile" still sound fresh decades on.

This is first rate folk-rock music, by the band that IS folk-rock. Fairport Convention, has survived because they are the best of best. This is a wonderful collection of their music.
4. 5 Stars!!!
