Faith no more's follow-up to angel dust
All though it may not be as good as "Angel Dust", it is an underrated album. This album is just fantastic. This album has everything a FNM fan could want. There's heavy metal, soul, punk. Even a little of country and blues! Mike Patton's voice could not get any better, even when he's just screaming nonsense. And just because Jim Martin (the original guitarist) left FNM, does not affect how great this album is. The only problems I have, however, is the song "Star A. D. " and when I recieved this album, there was this strange dried-up substance on the back of the album. I don't know what it is, and I don't want to find out.

My Favorite Unsung Heroes.....
never made a bad album. Mike Patton and co. To do such a thing while constantly pushing themselves artistically, incorporating irresistable melody and groove, and mixing and matching between genres of music at a time when that was most certainly not the norm is no small feat. This is the kind of addictive, compelling album you come back to year after year, and it never gets old.

The surreal vibe and energetic groove of this band was ahead of it's time. . . . . any fan of modern music should have this disc. It's not the absolute masterpiece that was "Angel Dust", but every FNM album is different and unique, and worth owning. This is no exception. . . . Mike Patton owns just about any other vocalist out there. . . . seriously. Hearing him deteriorate into maniacal babbling halfway through the album is worth the price of admission alone. Oddly enough, Faith No More is the most "pop" oriented thing he has been involved in, and still the best, in my opinion. That is, until, his collaboration with Buckethead. . . . (laughs).

my FNM story....Great Album
Well,
I would rate this and "Album of the Year" as my top Faith No More albums. . . . . . I love both for different reasons (AOTY for some reason sounds like a more mature sound, yes, I know Faith No More and maturity tag-teamed together makes me smile, but I can't think of another word to describe AOTY. . . . . possible reason for the sound was I think from seeing an interview awhile ago was that they said they used computers to make AOTY and not on their other albums) Anyways, this is the album that got me into the band. . . . I'm old enough to be aware of when "Epic" was played on MTV on what seemed like a loop. . . . for me, memories of MTV as a young teenager are "Epic" being shown on a loop and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" acouple years later being shown on a loop. . . . . One I liked, one I didn't. . . . anyways, that was in my mind when I saw "King for a Day" being advertised in a BMG music club sale thingy for $1. 99 or something. . . . yes I did BMG and Columbia House when I first got into music. . . . . When your just getting into music, those clubs are pretty cool. . . bulk up on major label bands. . . . . . anyways, I was like, "Man, I remember liking Epic, let me give this a try". . . . so I got it. . . it was really cool is was that it sounded nothing like Epic, but it I still really liked it. . . . . the instrumentation was great and creative and the vocals were really good and insane in parts. . . . . just so much variety on the album. . . . really aggressive tracks alternating with cool slower tracks. . . . . it's 8 or 9 years later and I still listen to this album and Album of the Year alot. . . really good stuff. . . . . I just remember getting that alert feeling inside when I first played "Get Out", when I first got the album. . . . it was like, "Wow! What's going on Here". . . . for a side trip, check out Youtube and type in "Faith No More 97" to watch great live versions of songs off of this album and Album of the Year.
