A Blast from the Glorious Past
The music scene was vibrant and one band I never got tired of seeing live was The Fat Lady Sings. The late 1980s were a great time to be in London. Many's the time I got transported away by Fear or Favour, Arclight or The Message (whatever happened to that song?!) at the Marquee. I left London in the late summer of '89 and so I wasn't around to see the band release their first album. But I got my copy half a world away in Tokyo. And I bought every other release, as much to support the band as anything, to give something back. But every new release was a revelation and my biggest regret was that I never got to see them live again. Nick Kelly has continued to thrive but I can't help wondering if the other members think, as I do, about what could - should - have been.

Irish Rock at its Best
An Irish friend turned me onto this legendary Irish Indie band - one of Ireland's best kept secrets she called it, and too true. Couldn't stop listening to this album for months after I bought it. My favourite tracks have to be 'Arclight', 'Fear and Favor' 'Contact' and 'Man Scared', though nothing on this album leaves you anything but completely enthralled. This two CD set is also a fabulous introduction to the band, containing as it does, not only a collection of their best known tracks, but also a set of unheard, crude versions that were recorded over the years. All I can tell you is that this is the single best buy in albums that I have made for the entirety of my life - ENJOY!.
