Fever Tree - 'Fever Tree / Another Time Another Place' (See For Miles)
I vaguely remember the name Fever Tree, a Houston psychedelic band that released several albums during their 1966-1970 existence. Good 2-lp's on one CD. This import has the band's first self-titled lp and their second effort 'Another Time Another Place' - both released in 1968. Tunes here I enjoyed the most were their nifty Beatles cover "Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out", the moody "Filligree And Shadow", "Imitation Situation" {sort of reminds me of the Guess Who"}, the kick-*ss "Man Who Paints The Pictures" and their best known song "San Francisco Girls". Might obviously do a lot for fans of Bubble Puppy, Blues Magoos, Music Machine, Chocolate Watchband, Demian and possibly Love.

"Unlock My Door..."
To begin with, this is a very underrated album (and group), but it's one of my favorites (original vinyl LP). This review is based on Fever Tree's 1968 self titled debut. With touches of classical influence here and there, the material on Fever Tree's self titled debut ranges from psychedelic rock to orchestrated ballads, and while I enjoy the entire album, I think the best song is 'Unlock My Door', best described as an acid acoustic tune complete with phased out trippy acoustic guitar break. . . as well as a fine string arrangement by Gene Page. Four Stars.

.

way overpriced
98, who's going to pay $99? Should have taken $25 while you still could. Now that Collector's Choice has rereleased these 2 albums for $16.
.

there too
grew up in houston and saw this band many times-they were one of the early progressive rock bands with many different shades-this band was hot in houston but never got the national recognition i believe it deserved-this collection has many gems-the sun also rises,99 1/2,and the obvious san fran girls (closest thing to a hit),when the lights go out-recommended.

DUE FOR NEW RELEASE IN OCTOBER 2006
00 on this double album set. Don't bother spending over $100. CD Universe has published a new release date: Scheduled to release Tuesday, October 31, 2006. Amazon will most likely have it then too - so just hold off, then buy directly from Amazon. com for a realistic price - but DO buy one! You will be amazed. . .
