"World Today" by Filter
"World Today" is weird and disturbing, like a child in an insane asylum. "Only the last two tracks seem out of place. "I like the world today, I like the world today, I like the world today, when it's green. . . And sometimes it's mean, and sometimes it's mean, and sometimes it's mean as can be". Richard Patrick can still scare the pants off a banshee. . . ,



You have no idea what that song, "World Today", means to me.

During my year in Afghani-land it was my `prayer' song when our own blood was lost.

Filter, this CD, amongst so many, helped me keep my sanity.


"But sometimes it's mean as hell; helluva price to pay".

That would be a fact

Amalgamut -- OK, if you say it's so bad -- where's your standard?

I'm listening to The Amalgamut for the the 1st time right now. I've loved Filter since "Hey man, nice shot".
What amazes me is the range of RP's voice right now.
Where did it come from? He used to scream in a limited vocal range.
Nice job, here. . .
The guitar "coming out of the woodwork" (fading-in) is wonderful.

Always had a good sense of screaming into an effect (See: Short Bus),
or a really hard riff -- and taking it to it's logical end-point
(See: Welcome to the Fold).

This is showing signs of huge growth. I admire the work so far,
and I expect I will be gushing after a number of listens.
I'm a huge fan of creativity and talent. This seems to be
completely fulfilling, so far.

I never liked "Take a Picture" -- too commercial.

But The Amagamut has done nothing but impress so far, and I expect it will only get better.

You people who have been so critical are either not Filter fans,
not music fans, or don't get the whole industrial/Rock/Metal thing.

BTW, I love Manson, too.

Creativity, couched in Metal / Industrial that's where I live.

This is where The Amalgamut lives.

We live together.

Loving it.

Staying tuned.

You should have too, maybe?.


A pleasant surprise


This band seems to have finally found their more melodic and heavy sound, which I like a lot. I am writing this review, while listening to this album, and I must say I am surprised at the heaviness of it. I previously had doubts about this album since the release date was 2002, but think I like this better than there two previous albums.


Oddly my favorite filter cd
It wasn't getting that many positive reviews and many people called it underrated, therefore it wasn't thought of highly by most,So when i bought it, knowing how awsome short bus and title of record where, i didn;t expect much. When i purchased this cd a while ago, i didn't expect much. Well, now this is my favorite filter cd. It Blends the elements of the industrial heavy short bus(1995) and the hard rock/metal of title of record (1999) into perfect industrial metal. Here are my reviews of some of the gems on the album:

You Walk Away:A heavy,Fast paced opener and a great song crank this one up loud!

American Cliche: Another Heavy track, not the best lyrics but Richard Patrick showcases is insane scream here

Where do We go From Here: An amazing Anthem rocker, enough said.

Columbind: WOW! the second heaviest track on the album Patrick screams throughout. You can really sense the anger here

The Only Way (Is The Wrong Way)-A beatiful power ballad similar to
Take A Picture in a way but stands on its own as a great track

My Long Walk To Jail- Another great track, once again very heavy. This song reminds my of "I will Lead You" from Title of Record

So I Quit-WOW!(Pt. 2) the heaviest, darkest , loudest, and most explicit song in Filter's history. This song could scare away Trent Reznor .


Alt Rock
i got this CD on a whim, i just kinda knew it'd be good, but i didnt know it'd be GREAT! ive never liked bands like NIN or anything like that so to say this CD even remotely sounds like any of that stuff is totally over my head. when i got this cd about 5 years ago i didnt really think much of filter and to be honest with you didnt even own any of their other CD's.

to me this cd kinda like sounds like a really good ALT ROCK record and thats about it. just about every song is awesome expect for the last 2 tracks which make no sense to me at all.

i did back track a few other Filter CD's but didnt have the elements in them that i enjoyed from listening to this CD.

IMO this is Filters best CD and the one CD that is consistant with all the things about Filter that pretty much makes them stand out.
