Five Americans, as they toured to promote it. I remember hearing the Five Americans album when it came out in '67, and heard most of the songs live, as the band I was in at the time, the Mersey Sounds, opened for them in Baton Rouge, La. They had a great sound, were a good live group, but unfortunately were among the one-hit-wonders (who actually had a few hits) who vanished from sight before the dawn of the 70's. But they had their 15 minutes of fame and added to the totality of the '60's sound admirably.
Pleasant sixties pop.
"Western Union", "I See the Light", and "Zip Code" are all here. This is a nice package by a sixties group that went from garage band to semi-bubblegum and put out some pleasant, though not durable, pop music. Listen to it and see if you can resist it. Much better than given credit for -- this is the music of go-go boots, backseat at the drive-in teen-aged angst, and middle-American kids in bell-bottom pants. The Monkees do it better, but it ain't bad, and well worth the listen.
