Classic Classic tunes remade by a 70's rock star getting back to his roots. I stumbled on this years ago on cassette. Gospel, country and bluegrass. . . even my 75 year old Dad enjoyed this!.
the blue ridge ranger himself
haggard-owens and some traditional tunes given the john fogarty treatment, worth a listen are somewhere listening, your the reason, I ain't never and today i started loving you again. 1973 cd that was a change of direction to country containing songs from some of country music's giants, williams, rogers.
In the 36 years since first released I would say it is fresh.
What a rocker is John Fogarty the 'blue ridge ranger' and he is still entertaining us in 2009, never die never fade away.
Great memories from a very good time back in 1973
It`s a great album and it was a little drop on the stone when C. What can I say - I loved this music in 1973 and I do so in 2008. C. R get split of some time before. Everyone who loves the music from John Fogerty - please buy this record.
Way before Centerf ield...
He plays and records all the instruments himself, including layering his vocals for backup chorus. I first discovered this album in the early 1980's when I discovered a solo recording of a member of my favorite rock group from the sixties-CCR; What makes this album so appealing is it truly showcases John Fogerty's talent. Definitely his mood at this period was true bluegrass/country/rock. I have not purchased this in CD form yet, but the album sound quality is perfection. I recommend this to any CCR fan and especially those who enjoy listening to good ol' bluegrass country rock ballads sung with the true spirit and soul of Mr. John Fogerty.
swamp rock lives on
He revisits "old country" and gospel songs and puts the familiar swamp rock sound to them that made Creedence so popular. John Fogerty's first project after leaving Creedence is worth a listen. "Heart of Stone and "Jambalaya" are worth the purchase alone. .
