Great Album!! Real Fans Only Need Apply But the band carries on with the memories of Dave, Rod & Tony firmly entrenched in their playing and attitude. True, only one original member. This 2 cd set rocks as well as rolls start to finish. The band is tight as the original Foghat ever was. A band that marches on with the blessing of the great Lonesome Dave.
The sound quality, mix and overall production is top rate. As a fan of the band well back into it's Savoy Brown days, I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled by this purchase. It has been in my car cd player for weeks now. The band seems to be having a sh%tload of fun and the audience can feel their energy. If you are a long time Foghat fan (like me), you know the songs, you know the history of the band, you know the legacy, but you don't know how good this album really is. Highly recommeded!.
A Disgrace to the Memory of Lonesome Dave
For those who are not aware, there are virtually no original members left in this band. This CD is a disgrace and a lame attempt to cash in on the success of Foghat Live, one of the great live rock and roll albums. Leader/singer/songwriter Lonesome Dave has sadly passed on. Give it a rest, please. I would recommend the original Foghat Live wholeheartedly. .
Despite personnel changes, Foghat still ROCKS
This version of Foghat (including original drummer Roger Earl and long-time bassist Craig MacGregor) is a tight, rocking, great-sounding band that Lonesome Dave and Rod would be very proud of. Even though Foghat's long-time lead singer and lead guitarist (Lonesome Dave Peverett and Rod Price) are deceased, Charlie Huhn and Bryan Bassett do a fantastic job of taking their places.
Foghat Live II is a good album, with nice production and excellent tunes. My only wish is that they mixed the crowd noise into the sound a little more, like was done on Foghat Live (which was released in '77). Still, it's a great album that you lovers of Foghat, Pat Travers, and the like will enjoy.
I've seen this version of Foghat in concert a few times recently, and I wish that they could capture their live sound better on this album. Seeing them perform in person is a great experience that can't be captured on a CD.
If you get the chance, see Foghat live if they're playing in your area, because these guys are FANTASTIC in concert. They can still kick it very well despite having a few gray hairs!!.
New Foghat Rocks....
I know it doesn't have Dave and Rod on the cd but Charlie Huhn and Bryan Bassett really keep the Foghat tradition of great Rock and Roll going. The new Foghat Live cd is outstanding, its over 2 hours long. . . I have seen the new version of Foghat live in concert many times in the last 7 years and you won't be disapointed.
