My favorite is "If I were a carpenter" You just cannot beat oldie rock & roll. I have really enjoyed this cd and well worth the price.

Great Anthology
The songs drive hard: pleading, begging, concession--all done well. The Four Tops are legends and listening to this clearly shows it. Even songs that were covers (Walk Away Renee) sound very good. "Walk Away Renee" in particular makes the Left Banke version sound like a weak whine. "Bernadette" epitomizes the passionate and emotionally exhausting narrative Levi Stubbs presents. Songs like "I'm in a Different World" while not major hits still sound pretty good!.


Classic, just like the Tops themselves
The Four Tops probably still have the record (pardon the pun) for longevity. A wonderful anthology. Well after we no longer knew the name of the then-current lead singer of the Temptations or who was with the Supremes, the Four Tops were into their fourth decade TOGETHER.

They have been great for so long. Their harmonies are wonderful, with the ever-present Levi Stubbs way way out in front. They sang with power and with passion, and were a must for those basement parties back in the day.

Their hits are just about all here, from "Baby I Need Your Lovin'" , and "Ask The Lonely", "Reach Out" "Seven Rooms of Gloom" and "Bernadette". Also some more obscure (comparatively speaking) such as "Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever" (my personal favorite) and "Its All In The Game". Happily, they are the original recordings (like all of the Mowtown Anthology collection).

For the most part, if it got much play in the '60's or '70's by the Four Tops, it is here. THE place to find the songs you remember and love.


Classic Material from A Classy Group
Reach Out(I'll Be There)is a song that is TImeless. This is a Must Have the Songs are Classic. Levi Stubbs&Crew are Fantastic Thru Out this two-disc set. There voices are Very Soulful&Powerful. not only One OF The Greatest Acts On Motown but also Music In General. ALways A Class Act.
