He was a legend this night
I bought it when I was 21, and wanting to know what all the rage was about this album. I used to have this album. After I heard "Somthing's Happening" I knew why. Up until this point there has never been a song that kicked off a concert in such a fashion, and there probably will never be. The man came to this arena to do one thing, and that's ROCK!!!!! He played "Something's Happening" like he wanted everyone to know who he was, and that every girl/woman would go home, and dream about him after the concert. It was like he was living his last night on Earth, and he wanted to go out with a bang. I could just go on and on about this because it's the best send off of a live album; I remember my first concert I went to which was a KISS concert on May 4, 1992 at the Trocodero in Philly. KISS led off with "Love Gun" while it was good it just doesn't rank up there with "Something's Happening". Don't think I just got hung up on the one song there's much more as he got funky with "Doobie Wah", and then rocked on with "Show Me The Way". The songs 4-9 he got acoustic, but showed off his versatility with the piano, and acoustic guitar, and then went back to rocking with "I'll Send You Some Money", and "Shine On". The album's weakest point was his cover of the Stones song "Jumping Jack Flash", but he makes up for it with "Lines On My Face", and the closer with "Do You Feel Like We Do?" which is the best way to close out a concert. How this never made it to number 1 I'll never know. I know I heard his follow up with "I'm In You" the song only, and that was a whimper compared to this. I'll check out the rest of "I'm In You" eventually, but in the meantime I had to share my feelings about this album. I will probably buy the cd of this sometime. .
Perhaps the best live album ever (If you're from that era)
I presume that each generation has a quintessential live album (example: Beatles @ Hollywood Bowl in the 60s), but this album is definitely the live album of the 70s and perhaps beyond. 1.
2. The audio, even when listened today, sounds great. The performance is inspired, the song selection is classic. Even having Bill Graham introduce Frampton is a classic. The entire album is just pure gold. .
This is Good
Frampton is a classic for those who were teens in the 70's and a must for their collections. I bought this to re-live my youth and it delivers. Great road trip music!.
Good Music But...
What A RIP OFF!, i mean even the musics just OK the only worhtwile songs on here are Do You Feel Like We Do and Show Me The WAy. The albums not even live? What the heck? all the tracks on here were recorded in the studio and then they ADDED crowd noises and clips from other shows.
