Floored by the sound I was most impressed with the Elton John collection on SACD until I heard this. This is the best sounding rock/pop SACD I have yet heard. I bought the vinyl LP when I was a teen and was unimpressed with the sound and did not care for many of the songs. Then I got the remastered CD - was still unimpressed. I was skeptical about paying more for this OOP SACD, but it is the holy grail if your system can take full advantage of this format. It is truly like hearing a different album - I love every song now. Even in 2-channel it is like being there. As of this review, you can still get this set at a good price on elusive disc.
Awesome SACD
1 SACD format is amazing. You just have to listen to it I know it's not going to help you make up your mind, but hearing this album in 5.
SACD Only
If you don't have a SACD player, (or know what that means), buy the other (non SACD) version instead. This is a great-sounding version of a classic rock album from the 70's, but be aware: this is not a hybrid SACD, but SACD only.
Love the album, disappointed over the representation by Amazon.
I just saw Frampton in concert last month and felt like I was in a time warp. This is my all-time favorite album, as I wore out the grooves in 1976 by playing it so much. He looks and sounds as great as he did 30 years ago. Anyway, I most certainly had to update from vinyl to CD and purchased the anniversary set. Nowhere in the description did it say that it was only in SACD format. Upon receipt of the set, I couldn't wait to pop it into the CD player, but these CDs will not play on my player, since it is over 10 years old. I have no choice but to return it and get the CD without the SACD format, but then it is not the anniversary edition. I was disappointed that I did not know that by reading the description prior to my purchase. .
Frampton comes Alive: 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
Also the newly added Songs are good too. It sounds very good in SACD Format.
