70s rock at its best
You can buy the band's various greatest hits packages if you want, but this is the only album you really need to hear. That "Rides Again" is not available on a domestic label is a crime worthy of the crew the band was named for. Guitarist Joe Walsh broadened the band's power trio approach, incorporating accoustic guitars and keyboards into their sound. The result, as shown on the latter half of the album, is stunning. The first half contains strong guitar jams like "Funk #49. " This is one of the best American rock albums of the 1970s, even if no American record label will acknowledge it.

James Gang rides on into the sun set with their best album
James Gang is one of the best damn bands in his collection. I'm 18 and I've taken over my father's record collection. I just blew the dust off this LP and put it on the turntable and sat back and listened to some of the best rock of that era. The track, "The Bomber" with it's two parts is the best on the record. Part two is an amazing remake of the Charlie Brown classic "Cast Your Fate to the Wind. " "Tend My Garden," opens side two of the LP and begins with a very slowly fade in of some very kick ass organ playing by Joe Walsh. The final track "Ashes The Rain and I" is a Zepplin-esk opus with a beautiful string arrangment by Jack Nitzsche that closes out the greatest album by James Gang. JAMES GANG RIDES AGAIN is the only album you need.

The only one you need

When I first got this album I played it till the groves came off. This is a "James Gang" album you have to have. This is no lie.

All you have to do is sit down play it. The album cover is great and tells you much of the times it was recorded in. Just put yourself in the proper mind and enjoy.

If "James Gang" is what you like to hear, this is it.
