Garbage - Special [#2]
Garbage Band: Garbage
Title: Special [#2]
Rating:
Release Date: 1999-06-01
Media: Audio CD

Tracks: 1: Special 2: Medication(Acoustic Version) 3: Push It(Victor Calderone Mix)

Medicated
This acoustic version features re-recorded vocals, something Garbage has done on a few of it's B-Sides. Not everyone can relate to the song "Medication", which in a way is not a bad thing, but it certainly keeps it from getting the credit it deserves. This single is a must own for Garbage fans.

A must-have for Garbage fanatics
To me, a good remix should be able to stand on its own as a strong song, and this one does just that. "Special #1" suprised me for a number of reasons, primarily the fact that Victor Calderone's techno remix of "Push It" is actually decent - great, even. I can easily imagine it being played at a club or rave, and it has a scratchy, raw feel that few techno remixes can claim. But what really sells this disc is the acoustic version of "Medication", a song that I continually skipped past on "Version 2. 0" but which stands out beautifully here. Consisting of just Shirley Manson's thin but earnest voice, a guitar, and a piano, the song has a delightfully minimalist feel, and it gives the song a much more emotional feel than the original. And of course, "Special" is a great single no matter how it's mixed, and rounds out an overall great CD single. A must-have for fans.

Special-Garbage
0, they have upgraded alt-rock's molding industry. Garbage has a knack for keeping their sound signature, but fresh, and with this, their third single from Version 2. "Special" bites off Pretenders'"Talk Of The Town" with fierce energy and squiggly cyber-pop, making it a must listen. The acoustic version of "Medication" isnt the greatest thing youve heard, but its Shirley's own irresistable sorrow that makes one of Version 2. 0's throwaways (theyre arent many)something of a memorable piece. Calderone's remix of "Push It" isnt revolutionary, but it does well with a song in no need of an alteration.

it's Garbage, need you know more?
It's very good. I bought this cd mostly because I wanted the acoustic version of Medication and because it was Garbage, my all time favorite band. I really like the remix of Push It, it may seem a little long when you first hear it, but it grows on you quickly. The acoustic Medication is absolutely amazing! I can't get enough of it. Even if you already have Special on a copy of Version 2. 0, get this single for Medication. It's beautiful, in my opinoin better than the original one. It's a very good cd and worth the investment.

This song makes me take my Medication
Get this single!. OMG! I love the acoustic remake of Medication! That song is so much better unplugged! And I guess others agree, cause I think it's gonna be on the upcoming KROQ Acoustic Christmas CD with another great track, the acoustic version of Come Down by Bush(off the No Boundaries CD).
