A real treat! It is refreshing to go back and hear Jerry touch on some styles that he may have not with the Dead. There is some really fantastic music on this. Don't get me wrong, I love the the Grateful Dead, but Jerry was a fine musician and it shows in this recording. There are some hints of Beatles influence, some great horn sections, and of course the blues. I think if you are a Garcia fan you will enjoy this. I also think some non-Grateful Dead fans may discover something in Jerry Garcia that they may not expect too. . Refreshing Listen This CD is chocked full of good music. I am a Grateful Dead music lover. Phenomenal sound quality - great tunes and versions Recorded in LA in February of 1974, released in June, and now, for the first time, remastered in HDCD with 10 additional tracks from the 'Compliments of. ' sessions. . . this, Jerry's second solo release, is vintage Jerry Garcia Band. The cd also includes a well-written and highly informative article, as well as full credits, and a few photos. . . all very well put together. But, of course, the real reason to get this is for the music: first-rate musicians, recording and production, remarkable and varied material (chosen by John Kahn- not Jerry, surprisingly), Jerry with horn section. . . ? with strings. . . ? doing Motown. . . Irvin Berlin. . . ? . . . and his singing and playing is inspired throughout. A truly classic recording.
