Christmas Beauty
Jimmy Webb's soaring melodies and glorious harmonies perfectly cast with Garfunkel, Grant, orchestra and a magnificent children's chorus. There is not a moment that disappoints in this recording. "The Frog" makes me tear up more than once a season. Perfect listening when you have time to sit alone in a tree-lit room.


That Old Christmas Story
Art Garfunkel is in top form and handles the material with great care. Jimmy Webb is one of the most prolific writers of our time and when it came to pen a Christmas album, it was done with passion and wit. Amy Grant, of whom I was not a fan, has something more than a cameo here on An Animals Christmas. This is a must buy album for Christmas, without being cheesy and it doesnt have the old "classics" we get to hear in every mall in America during Christmas. You will be able to pluck out this album in July if you want and feel that Webb has dug his own groove for the Messiah's birthday. .


Delightful
Joyful, beautiful and very musical. This is a lovely addition to Christmas. While I'm not classifying Webb and Mussorgsky together, there is a PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION quality in the storytelling of sound. Garfunkel and Grant is an interesting pairing and adds texture. Quite a pleasure.


One of the most beautiful Christmas oratorios ever
I can't imagine why this CD is out of print and why it isn't performed around the country on an annual basis. I just found a CD copy of The Animal's Christmas on eBay, after wearing out my cassette tape of this wonderful Christmas music. This beautiful, ancient Christmas story is told from the very unique perspective of the animals.

The previous reviewer was referring to "Words from an Old Spanish Carol", just one of the many songs that can bring a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye.


A question
Can anyone tell me what song has the words "one small fish from the river" with Art singing over the top "shall I tell you who will come to Bethlehem. I remember this musical from long ago; I have not yet bought the cd. . . . . . . " I am hoping this song is in the Animal's Christmas cd; is there anyone out there who knows?.
