The Complete Duets At times they seem so contrived; but not this CD. I hate duets! I absolutely abhor them. When I heard it for the first time from another source I really enjoyed it. When I played it again, I fell in love with it and had to get the CD from Amazon. Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye complimented each other beautifully. I enjoyed the production aspect of it from what I could detect audibly. In reading, there were some substitutions done. All in all, these recordings are reminiscent of a different time, to say the least. I do hope that those of you who read my customer review, take this one seriously. It's excellent!!.
It Does Take Two
I love and grew up on Marvin and the very pretty Tammy Terrill. Listening to the two of my very favorite singers is always a treat for me. Good rare songs that you have not heard are on this double cd and very enjoyable to listen to. I played their music my daughters really enjoyed listening to the cds. I love "Memory Chess" even their own way of singing "Saying Something Stupid" was great to listen to. Excellent cd. .
First duets I ever heard and still some of the best
When I was younger and more romantic, I used to hate to hear him sing by himself. Marvin and Tammi sing like they were born to sing together.
This is everything that Marvin and Tammi recorded in one two CD package. I wish there was some record of their live performances and I also wish there was some video here. Otherwise, very well done. .
why no dvd?
Yes, they are a bit of the best of American cultural history. Yes, they are magic together. Yes, they are geniuses of sound. So why can't we get a dvd of them singing together? Why is it that the best of American music is so hard to get on DVD?

the king and queen of soul duets
he was a singing partner that was unequalled by many, save donny hathaway and a few others. marvin gaye was able to work vocally with a variety of women.
though he had successes with many, he really hit his stride singing with tammi terrell. her bright, crisp treble was the perfect match for everything gaye had to offer from his wild growl to his sweet, shadowy falsetto. my personal favorite tracks 'california soul', 'your precious love', 'i'll never stop loving you' and 'since you've been gone'.
