Customer Reviews Actually, Sort Of, The Best Of The Rest... Some of the "hits" here are not the familiar versions, and I'm not sure where some of them come from (there are no liner notes and almost no other information, other than writing credits inside, not even dates; had these been provided, I might have been tempted to give this release four stars). I bought this minimally packaged CD for only one song, 'Coming To the Dance,' which is, as of this particular moment, available nowhere else. The surprise here, given the budget price, is that these album tracks and alternative versions of a couple of hits aren't bad, and the remastering on most of this CD is pretty good. Gayle has a lovely, soothing voice and she does not limit herself to a strictly "country" repertoire. Unlike some reviewers of this recording, I find the loungier numbers, like 'Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Be),' rather charming, even though she would never be a threat, in this territory, to Billie or Ella. If all you want from Crystal Gayle are the original, big hits, buy one of the Curb collections or Rhino's excellent anthology, or SUPER HITS, but if you are a major Crystal Gayle fan, and are frustrated by the surprisingly limited number of the many songs she has recorded that are available on CD, you can't go wrong with this one, as it only repeats a handful of tracks from other collections. For something delightful and unexpected, try Gayle's 1999 tribute album, CRYSTAL GAYLE SINGS THE HEART AND SOUL OF HOAGY CARMICHAEL, one of her finest offerings. For true Crystal Gayle fans Stores are overflowed with 'greatest hits' packages that repeat the same songs over and over. This cd has some rare album cuts that I've never been able to find on a cd. But I was thrilled to find some of these great album cuts that are always overlooked. I'll never understand why we can't get all of Crystal's complete albums on cd (like Anne Murray has done), but until then, I hope we get more cds like this one. A Change in Style Her voice is extremely pleasing and she has put a definite touch on what she has done. I have been a long time Cryatal Gayle fan. This collection to me represents an unfortunate turn to a lounge singing style. If you are familiar with "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," - the original, the version in this collection is faster, lacks some instrumentation due to a poor job of remastering another version that is faster in tempo. As B. B. sang "The Thrill is Gone," it is apropo to this collection. The Original version of this is the best. .
