Great collection of Crystal's seventies music
Followers of the American country charts will notice that plenty of her big seventies hits are missing, but this was never meant to be a greatest hits collection - however, it includes her two major international pop hits (Don't it make my brown eyes blue, Talking in your sleep) and many other excellent songs. This collection is compiled from Crystal's recordings for United Artists in the seventies - the music most people remember her for.

Among the songs here are Crystal's excellent covers of Someday soon (popularised by Judy Collins), It's all right with me (written by Irving Berlin), I still miss someone (Johnny Cash) and Cry me a river (Julie London). Most of the other songs are originals. I love them all but my favorites among them are Somebody loves you, When I dream and Right in the palm of your hand.

This is an excellent compilation of Crystal's seventies music but if you feel that twenty tracks is not enough, you may wish to check the British double CD, EMI country masters, which contains fifty tracks.

Tuneful, authentic and moving
Some of the highlights on this intelligently compiled album include the hit Hello I Love You and her versions of the classic songs Cry Me A River, Dreaming My Dreams With You and Someday Soon.
What a great collection of memorable songs! Crystal Gayle was prominent in the 1970s with her appealing brand of country-pop. I especially love her interpretation of Someday Soon and its lovely instrumental mix. Her huge hits Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue and Heart Mender were never favourites of mine but their inclusion is appropriate. Further masterpieces are the poignant and moving ballads When I Dream and I Still Miss Someone. Finally, Talking In Your Sleep is an unforgettable moment in her repertoire. Crystal Gayle had excellent taste in her choice of material. Her interpretations are authentic and her voice is warm and soulful. Many of these tracks come from her brilliant 1978 album When I Dream, a true masterpiece that had a wide crossover appeal back then. Love Songs showcases some of the best music from the country and pop genres of the 1970s.
