Customer Reviews splendid, except for final track The playing is masterful, nuanced and vibrant. Young Sergei does a wonderful job with these transcriptions. The only fly in the ointment is the Gershwin. The orchestra just doesn't get Gershwin. Legatos in place of staccatos and too even triplets-the unAmericanness of the piece is jarring. Do we play Shosti as badly? Perhaps it is impossible to capture the music unless you have a feel for the culture from which it sprang. Anyway, the CD is a treasure as long as you stick to the other work.
