Dumbed Down Culture
This is really nothing more than a flamenco version of New Kids On The Block, or any of the horrible acts who've gained success from American Idol. Wow, with all the great ethnic folk and art music easily available on the market today, it's still shocking how this watered down POP music manages to gain such recognition and fame. Just bland, paltry and boring. Even the commercially targeted hi-fi sound spectaculars released throughout the fifties and sixties that dipped into the early "world music" market were far superior to any of this stuff. Talk about a dumbed down culture.

I was looking for this CD since long time ago and finally I found it at Amazon. It was very gratefull to find this CD. com.

I recently heard their Flaminco version of "Hotel California" and thought this album might make a perfect gift for my wife. Many years ago I saw a PBS special on the Gipsy Kings and was very impressed. We absolutely love the entire collection on this CD.

Do I like the CD? YES. I am a new fan of the Gypsy Kings.
Would I go see them in concert? YES

I give them 5 stars. (although my review only shows 1)I was unable to edit that part!.


The Gipsy Kings "Very Best Of..."
Lilting lyrics, fast and slow conga rythms with impeccable spanish guitar work. Not a bad song on any of these CDs!! They all bring to mind a sultry evening in some spanish-speaking part of the world. CD#1 of the "The Very Best of. . . " is raucous and fast-paced, while disk #2 is more gentle and relaxing. You will have images of banana and palm trees swaying in the breezes while you relax in some spanish hacienda,cafe or cantina. Break out the premium hand-made cigars and pour up the rum or tequilla!! The Gipsy Kings are an awsome band and will bring any party to life. These CDs are "must-haves" for any serious cigar aficianado!.
