Gob Goes Pop
So before I go on, fans of "too late. It puts a smile on my face to think of all you 70's punk wannabes bi*chin and complainin' about "gob goin pop", and an even bigger grin to know that just last year, they released another pop-punk record with major label arista and toured with avril lavine. . . no friends" and "how far shallow takes you" should LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Now as far as the album goes, my review title pretty much explains it all. The songs on "the world according to gob" are much more radio friendly than anything they've done before, and they have melodic, pop-sensiblilty in the vein of "enema era" blink or the current simple plan. Songs like "looking for california" and "144" showcase the true pop-punk talent this band had been hoping to convey since their formation, and each song carries a unique melody and chours different from the next. If you hated this band before because of their past releases, I suggest looking into "the world according to gob" anyway. It's got more hit singles than kiss fm, and alot of replay value too.

In my opinion, gob is pretty similar to blink 182 in their evolution. For example: blink started in 94' with the horrific "cheshire cat", gob started in 95' with the equally bad "too late. . . no friends". blink made a big recovery with "dude ranch" in 97', gob made a slight recovery with "how far shallow takes you" in 98. blink showed full potential and took punk to its poppiest with "enema of the state" in 99', gob completely revised their sound and took a full on pop approach with "the world accroding to gob" in 01'.

In short, fans of the newer blink 182 or simple plan will enjoy this album. In my opinion, there are only 2 gob albums worth having; The world according to gob and their newest major-label release foot in mouth.
