Customer Reviews One of their best ! Bloody Buccaneers rounds out all of what they are in one modern album. GE's best album since Moontan. A lot of people think they are trying to copy other groups but what most do not realize, A lot of group surely were listing to them, Brian Adam's outright stole some of George's riffs. Fleetwood Mac took Caesar's drum setup. This is one of their most successful albums in Europe. Sony was just plain stupid not to promote and release this in the US at the time. Aerosmith ask them to tour with them that year but GE turned them down because to the success of this album in Europe. I saw this group in the seventies play with Aerosmith then with Foghat and they blew both of them off the stage. Then again in the 80's with Rush and people were screaming for Rush to get off and bring Earring back out !. Bad Album ? WHAT ! I have everyone starting from 1965 and this one does what cut album tried to do. I have to agree with reviewer 2 this is one great album. This was the 1st album not released in the USA at the time which was just plain stupid for Sony records. Aerosmith ask them to tour with them that year but GE turned them down do to this being such a big album for them in the homeland. They were bigger than ever without even selling a album in the US ! buy this one along with No Promises No Debts . Their best studio album That would be Contraband or one of their early 60's albums. One star? Golden Earring's WORST album? I don't think so. How could someone listen to this album and not find a single thing that's worth hearing, and actually prefer the likes of Contraband? I guess if you're more into the experimental progresive stuff, this one might not be on your list of favorites. That is to say, if you're more of a "Big Tree, Blue Sea" and "Vanilla Queen" (absolutely nothing wrong with that) person than a "Twilight Zone" and "When The Lady Smiles" person, you might prefer other albums. Yes, this is more commercial and accessable than some of their other albums, but comparing this with System Of A Down is ridiculous. This album is made up of the rockers, ("Planet Blue", "In A Bad Mood", "Making Love To Yourself", etc. ), and the ballads ("Going To The Run", "Pouring My Heart Out Again", "One Shot Away From Paradise"). There's not a bad song on the album, just a couple that are a bit weaker than the others. The rock ballad "Going To The Run", space-themed rocker "Planet Blue", mellow closing-track "Pouring My Heart Out Again" and "Making Love To Yourself" would be my current favorites, but "In A Bad Mood" and "One Shot Away From Paradise" are also great. This is a great classic rock album, but if you're into progressive, experimental stuff like "To The Hilt" and can't stand the thought of Golden Earring putting out anything that comes close to being "too commercial", then you might not care for this.
