Nice little rock n roll record.
They put out a LOT of albums, but all anybody seems to remember are the songs "Radar Love" and "Twilight Zone". Golden Earring are definitely a fan's band. Fans of the band who dug deeper and checked out their other releases quickly discovered two things. 1: This is a good little rock band, with a lot more to offer than just a couple of singles. 2: They are awesome in concert.

The live renditions of the two "big hits" are far superior to the overplayed studio versions ("Radar Love" is played so heavy that it sounds like a completely different band). Plus, the opening track "Long Blonde Animal," is just plain fun. It's actually the reason I tracked this one down, and is worth the price of the disc alone.

Golden Earring
. Something Heavy Going Down by Golden Earring is not one of my favorites, but still worth the money for the good music that is on it.

Just plain good
Very limited crowd noise for a live cd. This cd is either sold out or in short supply most places. Radar Love a bit overdone but this is Golden Earring at their best.

Live at it's best
The live versions of Twighlight Zone and Radar Love totally blow away the studio versions. Greeeaaaatttt live album. Too bad this album isn't available in most markets in the USA. .

It kicks!
The sound very relaxed and glad to be back home. "Something Heavy Going Down" was recorded live in Leiden, Holland in 1984, as a "back home" concert after their return from their final US tour. The version of "Radar Love" on this album kicks serious amounts of ass. Seriously, it rocks HEAVY and blows the studio version out of the water. There's a great version of "Long Blond Animal" (although not quite as fast and heavy as on The Last Blast Of The Century album), a cool studio recorded song (the title track), and "Mission Impossible" has a couple of terrific guitar solos. "Enough Is Enough" is pretty good, too. The only thing that's a little dissapointing is "Clear Nite Moonlight", the studio version is better in my opinion.

Overall, "Something Heavy Going Down" is a terrific live album, and is worthy to stand with "Bloody Buccaneers", "Moontan" "Last Blast Of The Century", and "Millbrook USA". .
