A Hidden Jewel!!
This album quickly became one of my favorites along with "Live" and "Live From The Twilight Zone". I bought this album never hearing any songs on it because I love Golden Earring Live.
"2nd Live" reflects a period of basic rock and roll. The songs are not as sophisticated as the "Live" or "Twilight Zone" periods with the bulk of its songs from "No Promises, No Debts" and "Prisoner of the Night", but "2nd Live" keeps a fast pace throughout, and the songs are better live than in the studio.
The music is more of a raw rock sound with a pounding beat through most of the songs. The guitar work is in a grinding fashion, yet it is brilliant. The bass and drums are no less than fantastic.
I find "Sleepwalkin'" with its bass solo intro to be the highlight of the album. The album is great from beginning to end with Barry playing flute at the end on "Back Home". The band is full of enthusiasm and this album is charged with energy.
If you are a fan of live Golden Earring you may try this one.

Save Your Skin is fantastic here!
It's a fantastic, gorgeous, ever-changing song. You MUST hear this version of Save Your Skin. Sleepwalking is also fantastic, with a much more rocking, stepped up pace than the studio version, even though I still love the studio version. I also love this version of Weekend Love. My only complaints are that Will and Mercy off of the Prisoner Of The Night/Long Blond Animal album isn't included (but the dull I Don't Wanna Be Nobody Else is), the version of My Town is weak, and the bass is turned up way to high so that it's much louder than the lead guitar. But the loud bass does work in the favor of some songs, like Weekend Love, giving it a more fast-paced "bouncy" feel to it.

Second Live
The track setlist is:

Don't Stop The Show
My Town
No For An Answer
Heartbeat
Save Your Skin
I Don't Wanna Be Nobody Else
Long Blond Animal
Prisoner Of The Night
Weekend Love
Sleepwalking
I Do Rock 'N Roll
Slow Down
Buddy Joe
Back Home

14 tracks total, most from the No Promises, No Debts/Prisoner Of The Night era. This is Golden Earring's second live album, recorded in Roosendaal, Holland in 1981. No Radar Love or Twilight Zone can be found here.

I have to say that I prefer The Last Blast Of The Century and Something Heavy Going Down, but the band plays with a ton of energy, on the spot and unrehearsed, and the audience is really fired up and the band knows how to have fun with them. The chorus on Long Blond Animal was unusually dissapointing, but still a good song. Sleepwalking and Save Your Skin did a great job at convincing me where the studio versions did not. The later had some great flute playing and was just an all around excellent take on the song. It is, as one reviewer put it, Stairway To Heaven's Dutch brother. I just wish Will And Mercy off of Prisoner Of The Night had been included.

The real blast!
E. Golden Earring has always been a LIVE BAND!If their first live album didn't really recreate the power ofG. on stage, this 2nd LIVE really does!
Recorded on their PRISONER OF THE NIGHT tour, this live album contains lots of highly boosted songs taken from that album.
A couple of old tracks BACK HOME, BUDDY JOE bring us back to an almost forgotten period-before RADAR LOVE.
The marvelous SLEEPWALKIN' and its bass/drums duo, SAVE YOUR SKIN
(stairway to heaven's dutch brother) and the classics Long Blond Animal and Week-end Love, all in their best versions!
A REAL KILLER-LIVE album featuring the energy, the sweat and the sincerity of a Golden Earring concert.

this cd rocks!!
preferably, their stuff up to moontan. i have been a big fan of the earring for decades. so, i was a little hesitant about getting this cd. their other live cds are pretty good, and this one has their more recent material. this cd just rocks from the first song. high energy and great guitar work. gone are their more progressive roots and more straight up rock and roll. extremely well done. my only complaint is that both cds are short (under 39' each)and could of been released as a single disk. other than that, be prepared to rock and roll all night long. highly recommended.
