Umm... Good Album, My review+a little ranting on the side
This album has got to be one of my favorites because of songs like the "The Anthem", "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous", "Girls & Boys", "Hold On", and "The Young and Hopeless". Why does everyone seem to utterly despise this band, even though a lot of their songs have made it to the top twenty on charts (think "Dance Floor Anthem")
To me, it makes absolutely no sense! Personally, i think this band is totally awesome! Of course it's not really punk, it's more of a psuedo-punk/pop/sort of angst genre of its own.
This is a really good band for fans of Paramore, and stuff like that. . .
.

So I borrowed this between summer and fall of '05...
Just not great. And it was decent.

The singles ALL stand out, HOLD ON being my favorite song by them EVER!!!

It's very uplifting and it's a midtempo that gives hope. I know there were TONS of kids who listened to this & decided to keep on one more day and to say, "F*** You" to giving up! I respect that about Good Charlotte; once in a while, they are good at making a hit that means something. Not always does this happen though.

There are a few throwaway tracks but overall, this CD is rather listen-able.

I don't necessarily want to buy it or anything but if someone else had it I'd surely jump at the chance to hear it once again!

Cover Art: A++ (America and the media was a bit hectic at the time. So I love the cover art).
Inside Art: ? (Don't remember it much)
Songwriting: C+ (A+ for Hold On)
Vocals: D (whiny, yet strangely like-able)
Vocal Emotion: C-
Vocal Acrobatics: F
Production: C
Length: A

3. 3 stars.

Overall: C-.

the best
if you like straight rock this is for you. i have all their albums and this one is the best.

Pretty Good
However, I do like the CD. The only reason I did I a kids review is because I don't have an account on here. I wouldn't call it punk, it resembles Simple Plan, but only more "Rocky".

Talent to Burn
Why then does this album add up to such an unsatisfying listen?. Unlike their sister band A Simple Plan who have built their foundation on being hard working, honest and professional Good Charlotte sound like the type of band who really have it all. Well Jim it all comes down to the old chesnut of song stucture. Formulaic would be positive praise for this album, you will yearn for the journey but Good Charlotte won't even let you outside. Why then is it so hard to give up on these guys?. Chemistry, plain and simple. These guys were born to play together much like Tool and The Sisters of Mercy in different genres. Be warned though sheer talent will not keep this skeptic around forever and future releases have failed to address this problem. Insert sigh.
