All Round Beautiful
Her style is a pop-classic sound and has charming lyrics. Delta Goodrem is a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. On this CD, there are a couple of songs that I felt were really good (such as Break It To My Heart and In This Life) and the rest were either average or skip worthy. If you like Celine Dion you will probably like Delta. It was mostly to mild for me, but I still will go to it on my ipod and enjoy a few songs every now and again. One thing that is often misconceived about her Cds is that she is just pretty and therefor sells Cds. She is pretty, but her voice is high quality, well trained, crystal clear, and ranged. All-in-all, this is a solid CD. Hope this helps! .

Australia's golden girl of pop music returns...
. . with her 3rd studio album, this time dropping the "Goodrem" label and opting for a simple "Delta" moniker as both album title and artist, and while that may seem an inocuous decision, it suitably represents the considerable shift in Delta's music this time around.

She first burst onto the scene in Australia in late 2002 as a vivacious and terribly affecting 18 year old with "Innocent Eyes", singing lovely, endearing and catchy songs of inspiration and heartache with unusual amounts of depth and honesty for someone so young. The album spawned a parade of #1 hits, spent an eternity at the top of the album charts and ended up as the 2nd highest selling album of all time in Australia.

Hard act to top? Well, she did just that in my opinion with her 2004 sophomore effort "Mistaken Identity". As expected it wasn't close to being the commercial success her debut was, but by any reasonable standard it was a smashing success still, earned her a few more #1 hits, and as an artist it saw her grow and branch out into edgier, alternative areas of her usual piano driven pop and speak candidly in her songs about a difficult year overcoming cancer, falling in and out of love, and dealing with the new found pressures of celebrity. The new "darker" Delta wasn't for everybody though, and the album was quite unfairly looked on as a bit of a dissapointment for not reaching her former album's impossible levels of success, and perhaps prompted by both that mindset and an attempt at finally breaking into the difficult US market, "Delta" marks a shift in her work back towards the more care free spirit of her debut.

If that album respresented her "girl-next-door" days and "Mistaken Identity" her somewhat troubled transition into womanhood, "Delta" has the hallmarks of a newly rejuvinated, bubbly star, more twenty-something sexpot than adorable teen. Coming from an eternal fan as I am, It's a bit of an awkward transition it must be said. The album has much more of a commercial feel to it, the songs are backed by heavier bass and catchy dance beats while quite often dispensing with her faithful piano altogether. Goodrem said with this album she just wanted to release a CD of "good pop songs", but it's a bit dissapointing to see her moving back towards the centre, rather than the left-of-centre that was "Mistaken Identity". This lends for a less personal and somewhat more routine effort this time around, you feel like with this album she wasn't quite sure what she wanted to achieve, and while individually enjoyable, the songs don't come together to give the album enough character. I think and hope this is just a minor misstep on her path as she continually grows and discovers herself as an artist, and perhaps one as I said inspired by a desire to appear more grown up and American friendly.

However for all this negative rambling, don't let me decieve anyone into thinking this isn't a good pop album. It is, it's a very good one. "Believe Again" is anthemic, one you'll be keen to dance to on a big night out. "In this Life" is more like the old Delta in it's autobiographical lyrics and let-you-hair-down fun. "I Can't Break it to My Heart" is my favourite on the CD and not surprisingly the one most reminiscent of her piano ballad days. "Brave Face" is the most succesful of her new sound, a retro rock-toned ballad which shows off stunning vocals and speaks candidly about living and loving in the public spotlight. And most of the rest are a diverse selection of adult contemporary pop tunes mingled with some dance and ballad streaks. In all, it's quality stuff, Delta's voice is as beautiful and expressive as ever, and her lyrics always heartfelt and revealing, however here's hoping her next album is a little more daring and innovative.

4 stars. .

One of the most Important releases of my life!
Too bad America only accepts rap crap or sex-me up songs, because this lady
has some of the most amazing talent to come out in this century. Armed with a great voice and inspiring lyrics, Delta returns with one of the best cd's ever!
every song is a pure delight to listen to. My favorite songs are I Can't Break it To My Heart, Bare Hands, Brave Face, and Believe Again, the line in which she beautifully, Beautifully sings " Have you ever screamed out into the rain, thinking no one else could hear you" really speaks to me. The maturity in the lyrics are a thing of pure beauty. The poetic structure with the pop-inspired undertones touches your heart like a bit@#!

My soul Thanks You Delta for this album!!
MUCH LOVE.

10 Stars Easily!!!!
From the lyrics, and the beautiful harmonies in which they are sung. This cd is poignant in every way.
Delta has easily become one of my favorite artists just by this phenomenal cd alone.

It's so difficult to describe each song, because they all contain some magic that would take more than words to elucidate.

The lyrics of Woman, are so beautiful. The heartbreak is undeniable. "I'm a woman, a woman with a heart, and i deserve your all. I'm not some girl who don't know what she wants, I'm a woman, and i need to be touched, i need to be loved, Because bieng just your woman, is not enough. "

Standout tracks include Believe Again, Angels in the Room, In this Life and God Laughs. All which touch your heart immensly!

Brave Face is PHENOMENAL! The lyrics and the intension in her voice is a pure musical orgasm! I Can't Break It to my Heart is sad in every sense of the word. It's about not wanting to go through the process of getting over someone because it hurts to much, so you keep lying, telling youself that he's still in love with you. Possesionless is a wonderful love-song without the material things. "All i've got is my body, and it's naked for you. All, i've got is this heart that i'm willing to lose. . . All i've got is this soul that is shedding it's clothes, do you see who i am? now you're standing this close. You know in these arms, you're feeling everything. "

Bare Hands is a Da Vinci work of art. I love the line that says
"Don't love me with gloves on,
Pick me roses with your bare hands,
Make me feel i'm worth the scratches. "

My Top 5
1. Woman
2. Brave Face
3. Possesionless
4. Bare Hands
5. I Can't Break It To My Heart

Delta i LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!! I put this album up there with the likes of Stevie Nicks!
BUY THIS!! You owe it your soul!.

Delta soars

This is a fluffy album with some solid hooks and nice ballads. The aussie pop princess didn't really crack the market in the USA on her first attempt but hopefully her second shot at it will prove to be more sucessful. In this life is the standout track and the video seems to be doing good things for Miss Goodrem's popularity.
As aussie pop guru Molly Meldrum would say "Do yourself a favor" and check it out.
