I was there! The tickets were a birthday present. I attended this concert at Auburn Hills, MI. Since I was too young to be allowed to see GFR during the first time around, this was especially a treat.
I was overwhelmed by the energy and musicianship of the original line-up. This was a wonderful concert and this live release does the performance justice.
Since the original group no longer tours together, I feel very lucky to have seen them in this incarnation. Enjoy!!.
Mesmerizing rock jam!
And Bosnia was the propitious occasion for this purpose. Although the visible commercial shift this band made since 1974 ("E pluribus funk") it's worthy to remark Grand Funk Railroad knew to hold the flag of one of the main principles of Rock; to contribute according its possibilities, the torch of freedom and preserve the peace. In the middle of that hellish and bloody environment of furious intolerance and repression, they risked and somehow added their good vibrations to pacify those horrid and memories of a recent past.
The recital was fantastic, with a gorgeous sound and including two brief appearances of Peter Frampton as guest star.

My Grand Review
To find it in a music store and never having known it existed. This cd was a total surprise to me. I had owned G. F. R's previous live albums on vinal and on cassett. The energy that G. F. R had put out in concert when I saw the on the "Shinin' on" tour was totally amazing. That was what I got when I heard the first two live albums and I expected the same when I bought "Bosnia!" Well, I can honestly say that I was far from dissapointed. Also pleasantly surprised with "Peter Framton" and "Alto Reed" appearing as well as. . . . (I forgot his name. . . leader of the band on David Letterman's late night show) was conductor of the orchestra behind G. F. R. I highly recomend this cd to ANYONE, especially those who appreciate Grand Funk RailRoad.
Like fine wine, they get better with age
As musicians, these guys have gotten A LOT better. Something remarkable has happened during the past 30+ years. As a result, their music sounds even better than it used to. This is one of the best live recordings I have ever heard. If you rememeber the "good stuff" (On Time & Red Album) you are going to LOVE the first CD. Mark, Don, Mel and friends crank out incredible renditions of Time Machine, Heartbreaker, Aimless Lady and Inside Looking Out. The sleeper is a brilliant medley that has Paranoid, Sin's A Good Man's Brother and Mr. Limo Driver. Side 2 was done with a live orchestra led by Paul Shaffer (from the Letterman Show). The best way to listen to this music is loud and with extra bass!.
superb!!
just buy this album and enjoy it. what can i say. a great perfomance by grand funk.
