GOOD ALBUMI RECOMENDED THIS ALBUM TO ANY GRAND FUNK FAN.
A Different Kind Of Album For GFR
While this Album upset may have GFRs hard Rock Fans with Songs like Look At Granny Run Run, Bad Time and Some Kind Of Wonderful it was an album way ahead of its time and influences people like Prince. This was GFR first the Heavy Metal Power Trio; Then the powerful hard rock quartet, and Now on All The Girls In The World Beware a Hard rock R N B hybrid, way ahead of their time. Many artists in the last 10 years have been mixing Hip Hop and Rock GFR mixed Rock and R N B long ago in 75. This album still have GFRs signature sound and had some heavy rockers like Life, Runnin, Good N Evil, And Responsibility. Wild All The Girls . . . and Memories are also good songs, Memories is a very pretty ballad. All The Girls has one of the best Bass lines I have ever hear and Wild is a typical rock n roll I am a pig songs. Bad Time and Some Kind Of Wonderful both charted in the top 5 and are still main stays in GFRs live shows. This is a must have for any real Grand Funk Fan and a must have for those who would like to see the roots of Hybrid rock.
Better than most fans think
I suppose it's no surprise; after years of loud, in-your-face rock albums and tours, Mark Farner, Don Brewer, Mel Schacher and Craig Frost went into the studio and made an album that has a lot more R&B and a lot less rock than ever before. This 1974 recording doesn't rate highly with most Grand Funk fanatics. And yet, despite the complaints, All The Girls. . . has many inventive moments. The seven-minute Good And Evil is fascinating for Brewer's strange, processed lead vocal. Look At Granny Run Run is sheer, goofy fun and Memories is a serious stab at out-and-out balladry. Of course, older fans said 'what the heck is this band doing a ballad for?' They might have a point, but no creative musical act should be put in a stylistic straightjacket.
Not as muscular as the cover suggests
Released not long after a couple of chart-topping hits, "All the Girls in the World Beware!" was the beginning of the end for Grand Funk Railroad. Many Grand Funk purists would argue that the band peaked as early as their first live album, but commercially they just went from strength to strength. Although tracks like "Some Kind of Wonderful" had their appeal, it's hard to believe that the same band that recorded the classic "red" album just a few years previously was now responsible for such bland fare as "Bad Time". The greatest irony is that just when the market for hard rock was growing like a monster, one of the prime acts of the genre was fading away to a meek shadow of its former self.
