ARE THESE TRULY DIGITAL VERSIONS?
I'm hoping this CD is a real digital recording. I haven't heard this CD so I am basing my review on the two vinyl versions that I am very familiar with. 1972's "Move Along" is a truly great album. There are hardly any filler tunes on this album and this is definately the best cut for cut album the Grass Roots ever did. The recordings are also the best production of any Grass roots work. "Alotta Milage" is not as strong and suffers from Dennis Provisor's lack of involvement, but it is good. , just not up to caliber of "Move Along". I want these albums in digital form very badly but something looks cheesy about the packaging and I fear these are CD's made from the vinyl albums. I have already done that myself. If anyone has this CD please let us know if you think these are for real or just vinyl copies. Thanks.

4 STARS FOR THE MUSIC - BUT A BIG QUESTION ABOUT THIS

"MOVE ALONG" is probably the best album, cut for cut, that the post 1967 version of the group ever did. These were a couple of solid latter day releases (1972-1973) for the Grass Roots that are long overdue for CD release.
-Only "Glory Bound" (ironically one of the singles) sounds subpar, like a re-cycled "Two Divided by Love"
There are several top-notch songs beyond the hits. Especially "Only One"(Provisor sings his heart out!) "One Word", "Runnin' Just To Get Her Home" and the title song.

*A strange footnote about this album: Vocalist/Keyboardist/Songwriter Dennis Provisor got totally hosed.
During his membership with the band, this release showcases his talents and influence more than any other. He's all over it singing, playing and writing or co-writing over half the songs.
Yet he's not shown on the cover or even mentioned in the credits! You'd think that a little common courtesy would have at least garnered an acknowledgment, even though he left the group shortly after it was recorded.

"ALOTTA MILEAGE" is a keeper (even though it barely charted) but it's a notch down in quality from Move Along. Without Provisor's songs and soulful pipes in the mix, the Grass Roots weren't quite the same and lost a little of their R&B luster and energy.
Longtime & original member Warren Enter gets back on the mic for 3 lead vocals here including a superb cover of the Free song "Little Bit of Love" that comes close to surpassing the original!
Other highlights include "Where There's Smoke There's Fire" and "Ain't No Way To Go Home"

The big question here:
WHAT DOES THIS PARTICULAR RELEASE SOUND LIKE???
Is it a legal release or a bogus bootleg?
It certainly has a very cheesy and cheap look to the packaging!
Did they get the sonics right? Is it truly re-mastered or just another scratchy vinyl dub?
I'd want to be certain before I'd pop on the big price they're asking. . . . .
for what may be one of those fake and so called "legitimate" Russian releases. .

Two very good albums.
It seems if you wanted anything by the Grass Roots you had to get one of the many Greatest Hits/ Best of/ Anthology/ Millenium Collections or you were out of luck. I'm glad these albums finally became available on Cd. Now it seems the albums those hits came from are now available. This two-fer is, in my opinion, the best of the lot. These albums came out in 1972, and '73 and introduced a very good version of the band. Of course Rob Grill was still there, as was Warren Enter, but the other musicians were excellent as well. Dennis Provisor was gone, although his voice and keyboards were present on some of the songs on Move Along.
Move Along also contains the Grass Roots last hits. These are Glory Bound, Two Divided by Love, and The Runway. But the rest of the album is good, too. Especially the cut Face the Music.
The second album, A Lotta Mileage features the same line up as Move Along.
On this album you'll find a whole buncha good songs. Among them are Love is what you Make it, We almost made it together, and a very well done version of a song by Free called A Little Bit of Love. Excellent material, very good musicians and singers, and a glimpse at a very rockin' version of the Grass Roots. If you like the band, don't stop at the Greatest Hits. Delve into some thier albums as well. You won't go wrong.
