Very Happy... Please Make More!
These many years later I was missing Gravity Kills after hearing other less successful sound-a-like bands and gave this album a try. I originally avoided this album when it was released given the handful of negative reviews.

I love it! While not necessarily as great as their 1st two albums, it's still the same GK you know and love. Stand out songs include 'enemy' and 'one thing', easily up there with 'guilty' and their other hits.

The only tepid point for me was the cover of Depeche Mode's 'personal jesus', it's hard to sell me on cover songs unless they can take the song to a whole new level. This cover didn't do it for me. . .

But the rest of the album is a must for any GK fan!.

The album that introduced me to this industrial group
But then again, THIS IS INDUSTRIAL ROCK! I like Gravity Kills for the fact that they don't evolve their sound much since the super hit 'Guilty'; I can always listen to their music and just fall into a usual and comfortable state of mind and music appreciation. I will agree with other reviewers that the album does tend to stay in one often tiring place, a few of the songs sound as if it's exactly the same messages from their other albums delivered in not-so-surprising industrial rock.

Some songs are really great, I think, like 'Take it all away', 'Fifteen Minutes', and the title track, and should be considered some of GK's best material. And don't forget the awesome cover of Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus'; this cover is light-years ahead of Marilyn Manson's, err, interpretation (I hesitate to call it such because it sounds more like Manson doing karoake than a re-recording).

Musically I feel the group has reached a higher level of maturity. My favorite album is still their debut, but to me the album does not fall short by much. (And don't exclude the fact that this is the first time GK has song titles that aren't just one word; not that it's a big deal, but it seems they have a bit more to say, regardless if they're saying the usual bits of industrial fury).

And for everyone who thinks Gravity Kills is a NIN rip-off, here's a message for you:

Industrial metal is a type of genre that fuses the technology of electronic music with the aggression of early punk music. The sound of industrial music is often much heavier than punk music, so it feels more relevant to metal, hence calling it industrial, plus the effects of using electronic distortions and programming adds an entirely new phase of popular music evolution. Trent Reznor is an industrial artist, and so is Gravity Kills, early Orgy, Sheep on Drugs, Prodigy, Gary Numan; they do not rip off each other's sounds, they are what make industrial music.

One of the Best Albums I Have.
First off I wanna know why do people always compare this band to NIN cause I don't think they sound anything alike,I mean you can tell it's two differant people singing and NIN music is. . well I guess a little heavier, now Gravity Kills and Sister Machine Gun well lets just say I can't tell witch band is witch or if it's gravity kills lead singer(can't think of his name) or sister machine gun's lead singer(again, can't think of his name),and they play they same type of music.

Now on to the actual review of the album,
like my title this is one of my best albums in my cd collection. I have all 5 albums and the MK album, thats how I found out about this band,as soon as I heard the Goodbye demo I was hooked. I bought this album and just like all the rest of the gk albums I don't think theres a song on it that I hate, I think every song is great. its one of my most listened to albums, every time I go some where in my car this album is in the player about 70 % of the time. I hated to here that this was going to be their last album cause I really like listining to gk and whis they wouldn't of broke up.

NIN is terrible...
The only thing that they have in common is they use effects in the music. Gravity Kills doesn't sound like that horrible band that Trent Reznor created. I've heard this Gravity Kills album and the first one but haven't heard the second one (so I can't comment on that albums similarites to NIN) but both were good rock CDs. This CD isn't amazing and doesn't break any new ground or anything but at least its an enjoyable sound that I revisit every now and then. This is basically a decent CD for when you want something new to listen to. .

Five Stars All The Way!
It's about as close to modern-rock as the band ever got, not that the thumping bass and kicks weren't good in their earlier stuff, but this is just a bit less "club". This album friggin' rocks. It still holds true to the guitar and vocal style of the band, and out of the dozen or so tracks, i'd say there's at least 7 or 8 that kick ass! And, even though all their other stuff set the tone for the band, I would still say that the song "One Thing" has to be the BEST one the guys ever recorded! (that's right, better than Guilty) You got to have this one to round off your collection. . . a MUST have!.
